Hey my man, I wanted to take a minute to wish you and yours a happy holiday season...and to thank you for the past year of great content. When I see a new video, I stop what I'm doing and check it out. You never disappoint. Thanks again. Cheers, Tal

I saw the title and was thinking maybe later... it's so hard to get the nuance of JJ Cale. Such a unique musician... but oh no... just brought the big ol' xmas balls out front ....with a pumpin jam. Love it. Better than a cup of joe.

Yeah… didn’t really go with the understated vibe on this one😉 Sometimes you gotta let the big dog eat.

@@jacksnax4guitar460 definitely the tasty and most informative dead stuff I’ve found on YT. I’m learning theory and stuff like that (sporadically) , so it’s super awesome to learn and apply it to music that’s inspired me. Seeing it all converge is incredible. You do it extremely well

With all due respect, revisiting Garcia's version(s) may be very useful and instructive. You can find Jerry and Merl versions from late '72, (Merl Album Fire Up) '73, 74, 75+ (Strat/Twin) --> to pinnacle Jerry versions during spring 1980 tour (Tiger w Dual Sounds/MesaBoogie MkII). Keene College recording captured the rare A.M.--> Eleanor Rigby--> After Midnight. One of my favorite sections is the 5-8min jam into Rigby. It might be the last most funky, jazzy, bluesy jam Garcia did. He captures Cales' offbeat laid back, loping, kinda Levon Helm vibe, and torches every lick Clapton came up with... all in the first few minutes of the 16minute song. No one can do what Jerry did there, but he could play anything, melodically, by anyone. Would love you to revisit After Midnight w Jerry in mind, esp that jam, i think youll find a new frontier. Thanks for all you do.
