After the concert in Roanoke, I stopped at the gas station across the street, and I was walking to go to my car, and he drove up in a Mercedes. I didn't recognize him then, it was sudden, and I was surprised, but he waved me by, and we smiled at each other. Wow.

I use to run my life around every word Jackson Browne, Dan Fogelberg and James Taylor ever wrote. Back then I really thought love was something you may get to hold for a little while. I would work tirelessly trying to make love stay. No one could tell me I was doing wrong today or any day. Sometimes I'd lie awake at night and wonder where the years have gone. They've all passed under sleeps dark and silent gate. I never had a clear path. My emotions ruled my life. I thought how do I make love stay? I was looking at these guys as Sages. I came to realize they were as lost as I was. My songs I wrote were beautiful and thought provoking but left the listener incomplete and longing. Songs to cry by would be the name of the album. In the end, the girl always leaves and joy was fleeting and if you had it you were one of the chosen few. Now I realize that was just me and the sages crying out for Jesus but we didn't know it. You can only work with what you were given and I wasn't given much. Thank you Jackson, Dan and James for carrying me a little while. I know now that the Joy of the Lord is my strength and the greatest gift God gave us was love. I accepted it and now I know what love is. How do you make love stay? There is only one way...Jesus.

@Lauren Middleton Absolutely ♡ one of his best albums, so many wonderful song lyrics in it. "Before the Deluge" and my favourite "The Late Show" that song speaks such truth from beginning to end, "You go and pack your sorrows, the trash man comes tomorrow, leave it at the curb, and we'll just go away." Then the sound of the car starting and pulling off is genius.

So happy to have seen this. Jackson Browne's music has been part of my life for 40 years now. I can still remember when I first discovered it, in 79 or 80, in the record collection of my Dad's then girlfriend. I quickly bought all the old albums, and bought most of the new stuff through the years - though I could critique some of that, lol. The point is, his best songs, and the voice itself, continue to speak to me as he moves into his early 70's. The songs have seen me through some very dark times, some of my making and some not. I keep meaning to write a useless letter of appreciation, but I suppose no one actually gets mail anymore. Very much regret I never saw him live.

This is such a somber song. The boys made me feel it just as it was played. As I get older (70) this song rings true, but sadly so. I've been encamped alone at my home since this misery began over 1 1/2 years ago. Unvaccinated (waiting for the Novavax) and haven't seen friends or family since. The Novavax has been postponed from the first to second to third to fourth quarter this year... then who knows if it will be available to us. They supposedly have European obligations. Jackson and company have been a part of helping me maintain my sanity... at least what little is left of it.
