LYRICS:
All good things got to come to an end
The thrills have to fade
Before they come around again
The bills will be paid
And the pleasure will mend
All good things got to come to an end
God I wish I was home
Laying around with my friends
The call of the wild
Caution thrown to the wind
The fall of the child
Where the longing begins
All good things got to come to an end
Like a river flows
Rolling until it ends in the sea
Our pleasure grows
Rolling until it ends in you and me
Now as the dark gathers into the sky
And legions of might go thundering by
Regions of light grow dim and then die
And we with our wings
Wait for morning to fly
Like a river flows
Rolling until it ends in the sea
Our pleasure grows
Rolling until it ends in you and me
Rolling until it ends in you and me
Here where the angels
Have appeared and are gone
Your face like an ember
Glows in the dawn
But I want you to remember
All wild deeds live on
All good times, all good friends
All good things got to come to an end
The thrills have to fade
Before they come around again
The bills will be paid
And the pleasure will mend
All good things got to come to an end
All good times, all good friends
All good things got to come to an end

I use to run my life around every word Jackson Browne, Dan Fogelberg and James Taylor ever wrote. Back then I really thought love was something you may get to hold for a little while. I would work tirelessly trying to make love stay. No one could tell me I was doing wrong today or any day. Sometimes I'd lie awake at night and wonder where the years have gone. They've all passed under sleeps dark and silent gate. I never had a clear path. My emotions ruled my life. I thought how do I make love stay? I was looking at these guys as Sages. I came to realize they were as lost as I was. My songs I wrote were beautiful and thought provoking but left the listener incomplete and longing. Songs to cry by would be the name of the album. In the end, the girl always leaves and joy was fleeting and if you had it you were one of the chosen few. Now I realize that was just me and the sages crying out for Jesus but we didn't know it. You can only work with what you were given and I wasn't given much. Thank you Jackson, Dan and James for carrying me a little while. I know now that the Joy of the Lord is my strength and the greatest gift God gave us was love. I accepted it and now I know what love is. How do you make love stay? There is only one way...Jesus.

After the concert in Roanoke, I stopped at the gas station across the street, and I was walking to go to my car, and he drove up in a Mercedes. I didn't recognize him then, it was sudden, and I was surprised, but he waved me by, and we smiled at each other. Wow.

@Casey Bertrand Agreed, his soulful ballads are literally poetry set to music. Some of his best are even more melancholy and poignant narratives, which encourages me to listen even when I'm sad...it's like he understands our sadness.

@Lauren Middleton Absolutely ♡ one of his best albums, so many wonderful song lyrics in it. "Before the Deluge" and my favourite "The Late Show" that song speaks such truth from beginning to end, "You go and pack your sorrows, the trash man comes tomorrow, leave it at the curb, and we'll just go away." Then the sound of the car starting and pulling off is genius.

Be well, good soul.

So happy to have seen this. Jackson Browne's music has been part of my life for 40 years now. I can still remember when I first discovered it, in 79 or 80, in the record collection of my Dad's then girlfriend. I quickly bought all the old albums, and bought most of the new stuff through the years - though I could critique some of that, lol. The point is, his best songs, and the voice itself, continue to speak to me as he moves into his early 70's. The songs have seen me through some very dark times, some of my making and some not. I keep meaning to write a useless letter of appreciation, but I suppose no one actually gets mail anymore. Very much regret I never saw him live.

Agreed! One of my favorite songs ever is the Live Acoustic version of Call It A Loan with David Lindley. The regular version is fine, but I think that song from this format would blow us away!

Love the live from home stuff! I wrote on another video, my wife and I had tickets to Jimmy Buffet at Alpine Valley a few years ago, but we missed you ( you opened up for him), because my wife was dealing with a life threatening infection after breast cancer surgery. We gave the tickets to our daughter and her husband, but they were tailgating, and missed your set. I never let her forget it! Thanks for all of the great music. I had a great 25 year career playing music and loved your songs the whole time. My wife is fine, and I really miss playing music. Go as long as you are able....you still sound great!

Jackson is a genius and such a wonderful human being. Love the musicianship, creativity, lyrics and the heart in his music., He gets better , and better in many ways, as he shares his gifts to the world.

This is such a somber song. The boys made me feel it just as it was played. As I get older (70) this song rings true, but sadly so. I've been encamped alone at my home since this misery began over 1 1/2 years ago. Unvaccinated (waiting for the Novavax) and haven't seen friends or family since. The Novavax has been postponed from the first to second to third to fourth quarter this year... then who knows if it will be available to us. They supposedly have European obligations. Jackson and company have been a part of helping me maintain my sanity... at least what little is left of it.

Man Jackson, these videos are great! I wish everyone in our country would listen to good music, they would see that "All Good Things " don't last forever, they do gotta end. Thx brother
