About twelve years ago, my oldest son and I were shopping at a Hastings in Conroe, TX. His Dad had a birthday coming and he was looking for a CD to give him. He called me over to ask me which CDs his Dad already had and if I knew for sure if he had Jackson Browne, I'm Alive. I was certain he didn't. My son bought it for his Dad's birthday several months way. He handed it off to me to wrap and make sure his Dad got it. I put it under the seat and forget about it. 2 months later, at the age of 29, my son died suddenly and very unexpectedly. The CD forgotten in its resting place. Fast forward to nearly Christmas. Trying to make sure all gifts were wrapped and accounted for. Found CD under the seat. Wrapped it and put it under the tree, to my husband, from our recently decreased son. The name of the album and the title track were the same. "I'm Alive." My husband had been asking Ryan to find a way to show him he was okay. When Jerry saw the CD, the title, the artist and who it was from, he knew it was our son, letting his Dad know he IS alive. There would never again be any doubt of that! For that, I will always be grateful to you! My husband followed our son through the veil, 4 years after our son's departure. 💔

@@michaelelliott1212 Sounds very existential. One thing is certain ,appreciation of music is subjective, and my statement can be taken as judgmental. Which it is. Electronic augmentation is all right by me, I love to play electric guitar with a certain amount of effects, but when there are only repetitious loops of effects with little musical structure ( 2 or 3 chords ) it doesn’t require “real” musicians or that is to say competent musicians with something interesting to contribute. People tell me Jackson is depressing, or just down, and I just laugh. He hits on notes of sweet honesty that only a poet of depth can put into words. He makes me feel AND think. The more you know about his personal pain and journey the more authentic his poetry becomes, too, and that brings a sense of kinship. I've also been greatly helped by his company over the years. Peace and long life, dude.

I was at an after-concert “meet and greet” in Richmond CA. waiting for Jackson to come out of the restaurant’s kitchen, when I struck up a conversation with keyboardist and high harmony singer, Jeff Young. I told him that his voice really enhanced many of JBs songs. He was genuinely flattered and I ended up talking with him at the bar for about 15 minutes. 😊 Yes, and the bar ended at the kitchen door so I was the first one to grab Jackson and got my man-hug and photo with Jackson. The gist of this story is - I’ve traveled all over the country to see JB and Jeff Young is a great harmony singer!
