Zippy they don't do up the nuts
@FunkyMonkey-ip4xy7 жыл бұрын
It's not the first time he's done that :) If the locking nut isn't tightened up that'll explain why it went out of tune, and the way Rob was hammering the Floyd his was tightened. Lee just isn't used to them.
@ThatGuy2042_7 жыл бұрын
They explained it in another vid. The guitars for demos are sometimes fresh out of the box. They leave the nuts undone until everything settles in.
@ThorneyedWT7 жыл бұрын
Also buyers usually play in different tunings, so it is convenient to leave nuts undone and let everyone to retune fast.
@FunkyMonkey-ip4xy7 жыл бұрын
Thorneyed I'm prepared to accept the nut may have been unlocked but not for that reason. You ever tried a drop D on a Floyd? You detune the E and every other string goes out of tune because it screws up the balance of the trem. You can't quickly alter the tuning on a Floyd Rose.

@thedondeluxe69417 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Jackson and Charvel are slowly turning into the exact same thing these days. I'm kinda worried Fender is gonna ditch one of the brands and just call everything Jackson or Charvel.
@zaccarter38017 жыл бұрын
To be fair stainless steel frets are overrated.
@CroneRaven18107 жыл бұрын
Zac Carter To be fair: They are not. Have stainless steel frets on some models so it gives options to consumers. If you think they are "overrated" then you buy a model without SS frets. So having options is always better than not having options. Other manufacturers does it too. No excuse for a big manufacturer like Fender to not provide these options.
@zaccarter38017 жыл бұрын
CroneRaven1810 I did not mean to offend your large obsession with ss frets. From a luthier standpoint they are pretty stupid, they do wear down. And filing them is a hassle and so is polishing them. Most fret wires are easier to set up and replace. Just my experience with actually working on them. I think they are stupid if you like to keep your guitar set up. But if you are just a player then I understand, they are more "durable" (stubborn). I can't believe people want ss frets but can't stand Gibson for your using richlite fingerboards. More durable and feels relatively similar to its counterparts
@zaccarter38017 жыл бұрын
CroneRaven1810 if you wish to debate this than keep using your word choice. If you want to discuss I'd recommend not sounding as confrontational. To be fair.
@rogershore71896 жыл бұрын
So, a few things. Fender bought Charvel and Jackson in 2002. The Pro Mod range has been around since 2008, not 4 or 5 years. Charvel originally had dinky bodies in their range back in 1990 (275, 375, 475, 550, 650, 750 and the Fusion Range), and they had a limited edition DK-24 last year with H/S/H pickup configuration. The blue ‘Jackson’ that John Mayer has been seen with recently is actually a custom shop Charvel, and is nothing like the SL 4X, since it’s a San Dimas

Puzzled. I‘ve owned an MIJ Charvel Spectrum since ´91, and they proved borderline unsellable back then. Charvel built ´em only for three years. First of all....Lee, I am seriously impressed with how far your playing has come in the last while. Well done!! The only thing I can take issue with is the headstock on the single cut. Not my cuppa..... Other than that, seriously considering a Charvel as I find myself in need of a super strat, Had a Jackson Soloist back before time began ( according to my kids, anything before Grunge and modern pop ) and us dinosaurs ruled the world. should have kept it as i now need such a thing again...!

I wish there was a mid-range Phil Collen model (under either the Jackson or Charvel name... a bolt-on version would be nice) that ditched the 5A/10-top Maple for a less-figured or the PRS SE “Veneer with Plain Maple” set-up, and just had the Bridge Humbucker/Neck Sustainer in Humbucker. I’d absolutely pay $1200-$1500 USD for that!

Position 2 and 4 on a Strat with hotrails is quite interesting, and you can hear it on a lot of L.A. studio guitarist in the 90's. But I agree with the Captain they are hard to make work. I tried parallel wiring on a Squier Deluxe Hot rails guitar, didn't really work. the ceramic magnets gives a very hard spike in treble register. I might try a Bill Lawrence Q-filter on them today, that usually does the trick on hot pickups FWIW
@flekkzo7 жыл бұрын
Christian Boddum Have you checked out the pickup combo that Dave Murray uses? He's got a different middle pickup (JB jr).

John Gustafsson Hi John, I did a massive tryout with hotrails/rail pickups over a period of time and settled on the Kent Armstrong Cool rails as my favorite in terms of tone and output. They sound great i parallel for cleans, and hot enough in series for lead playing for me. ;-) So no, I havent tried the DM variation, but it sounds interesting.

I recently watched an interview with 'Seymour' where he cleared up the pup names. The JB and JM hummers were originally made for Jeff Beck's 'telegib' which 'Seymour' built for him, and he gave them the names jazz bridge etc to appeal to a wider audience. Giving them the jazz moniker hasn't diminished their sales potential either, because guitarists generally know how versatile they are. I hope that cleared things up for y'all.

Only one ever existed like that originally , it was one of three soloists custom built for Jeff Beck all three had single coils, one had a Floyd one a Kahler and the last a fender trem . JB drew a pickgard on the orange one and Grover made it for him. Tina turner carved her name in to the pink one with the Kahler and I've never seen the other. The orange one is in the video for Ambitious from Flash. These where never built by Grover again until Fender made a couple of custom shop USA ones recently.
