Ah, the appeal of a posh accent to the naive followers of the billionaire press, regardless of the real underlying motivation : -to keep the rich richer and poor, poorer. Kim Philby and Lord Haw were marvellously well-spoken, old chap . They were still traitors. Or "cads" as I assume Mr. Rees Mogg would refer to them.

There's no "cliff edge." That metaphor would be appropriate if we were talking before the referendum was held about leaving the EU instantly in the event of a win for Leave. As it is: it's after the result; Theresa May waited a further 9 months to trigger Article 50; A50 specifies a 2-year leaving period, which is the transition period in itself; and it'll be over 3 years elapsed between the end of the A50 formal leaving period and Cameron's announcement of the referendum date in the first place (Feb '16), notwithstanding the fact that the rumblings about it being held at all have been going on for a number of years prior to that. How much more notice do institutions need?

Months before the referendum, it was whispered that May might head the "Leave" camp, but she headed towards the Remain side, but I must say, I didn't see her campaigning for remain. It appears she's uncertain about what is the best option, and therefore is stuck in the middle, and strangely enough, this is exactly where her negotiations has left us. Stuck in the middle, or some might say, a "muddle!" Time to step up, Jacob! The country needs a decisive person in charge!

Wallywood Wally nah, she's now shown very clearly that she is a remainer after all, dressed in Brexiteer clothing so that the sabotage would creep in slowly drip by drip, that's why she wasted so much time before triggering article 50 & then continued to waste more time messing around. JRM needs to step up if we have any chance of ever getting out now!

Wallywood Wally well, weather incompetent or a 5th columnist for the remain side, May is now totally untrustworthy most ppl will never trust her again. JRM is the only one who has clearly demonstrated his Brexiteer credentials & can command enough trust to get the Tories back in next time around & keep Corban out. I don't believe Davis or Boris can hack it as PM at this crucial time & if Corban gets in thru the cracks in the Tory vote & wins the next election UK will never leave EU.😣

Blessed with the finest intellect in Parliament, unfailingly polite, consummately articulate and pleasantly self-deprecating, JRM possesses all the requisite qualities to be in charge of the UK's Brexit negotiations. Like Margaret Thatcher, he is a conviction politician and believes in Brexit, unlike the present PM. He would give Michel Barnier et al a very good run for their euros. In the next reshuffle, JRM should be promoted to the Cabinet as a first step to becoming party leader and subsequently PM.

A good exchange and clear replies by Jacob Rees-Mogg. And he did well to quieten down the usually excitable Evan Davis. Partly this is due to JRM's skill with interviewers; partly because JRM made sure he was being interviewed by remote link in his own (elegant) sitting room and was not in the BBC Studio. That meant that Davis (or any interviewer) cannot bully the interviewee and push them along. A lesson to us all how to handle an interview.

The reality is that younger people did two things. Those that voted largely voted to stay and another group did not vote at all. Even cursory understanding of those entering UK show that half were non EU and totally within control of UK. On EU side there was never an unqualified right of free movement - just happens UK chose not to enforce. We then see mixing up of ECtHR and ECJ and few are clear on the differences. To be blunt most of those voting to leave EU are older, least impacted and were not presented with clear facts. I like Mr Rees-Mogg and would feel he of all would least be afraid of rerunning the Referendum on the basis of 'measure twice cut once'. It is a fact that UK entered what is now EU without a referendum - only to run it afterwards. From a business perspective I find the UK approach delusional but the penny is dropping.

We have 73 seats which when we leave will become vacant, we should be quietly sounding out all those of the other 27 member countries who wish to increase their seats in the EU parliament and find out how much they are willing to pay to do this then put the proposal along with our requirements for a trade deal to Mr Junket, Mr Verhuffanpuff and Mr Barnear in a way that they cannot refuse. Here is a far from exhaustive list of examples of the systematic abuse of disabled people that has been going on since 2010 when the Tories were elected: The government's own figures admit that thousands of disabled people have died within six weeks of being declared "fit for work" and stripped of their disability benefits by the Work Capacity Assessment (WCA) regime. The WCA regime was declared unlawful for the way it discriminates against people with mental health conditions, but the Tory government carried on regardless. Appeals against botched WCA rulings have been costing £50 million a year. This cost is paid for by the taxpayer, not the profiteering corporations that made the botched assessments in the first place. The WCA disability denial regime costs way more in corporate outsourcing contracts to administer than it will ever save in reduced disability benefit payments, meaning the Tories are forcing the taxpayer to subsidise their systematic abuse of disabled people. An incredible 420,000 disabled people were hit by the Tory "Bedroom Tax", many of them for "spare" rooms used for medical equipment, or for carers to sleep in. The financial stress caused Stephanie Bottrill to commit suicide leaving a note blaming David Cameron and the Tory government. Tens of thousands of disabled people were forced onto the Tories' shambolic Work Programme, but the outsourcing companies running this scheme knew they could never make a profit from helping "difficult to place" clients, so disabled people were just "parked" while the corporate parasites focused on cashing in on easy to place clients. Just 8% of disabled people to be put through the Work Programme end up finding jobs! A United Nations investigation into the treatment of disabled people in the UK found that the UK government was committing "grave and systematic violations" of disabled people's rights. In March 2016 309 Tory MPs voted to cut the Employment and Support Allowance by £1,500 per year. Not a single politician from any other party voted in favour of these cuts. As a result of this brazen economic assault on disabled people, several Tory MPs were sacked as patrons of disability charities. The Tory party claimed to be scrapping the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and replacing it with Personal Independence Payments (PIP) in order to make sure the money went to the right people, but in April 2017 they slashed PIP payments by 33% using the perverse excuse that this would incentivise them to find work (despite there being no evidence whatever to back up this claim). Disabled people undergoing PIP assessments have routinely been asked "why haven't you killed yourself yet?" by their assessors. An incredible 65% of PIP decisions that go to appeal are overturned, yet the profiteering outsourcing corporations making these botched assessments (Atos and Capita) just had their contracts extended by two years by a no-bid process! The Tory party constantly claim that their disability cuts and are trying to get disabled people into work, but they deliberately laid off 1,500 disabled people by shutting down Remploy factories, many of whom are still out of work years later. Despite constantly going on about the importance of helping people with mental illnesses, the Tories have been doing precisely to opposite; slashing funding for mental health services and actively instructing it's corporate army of disability assessors to discriminate against people with mental health conditions. The Tory government are confiscating an astounding 900 adapted motability vehicles from disabled people per week. In one case they confiscated the motability vehicle to save £6,000 and then agreed to pay £65,000 in taxi fares so that the disabled person could continue going to work! As I said at the beginning, this is a far from exhaustive list of examples of the systematic Tory abuse of disabled people. Are you honestly going to endorse this? If you vote Tory, you endorse the continuation of this disgusting Tory agenda of abusing and impoverishing disabled people.

If the backbenchers don't deal with this by either forcing a leadership election, or by abstaining, or threatening abstentions in future votes, get used to staying in the EU. And Boris Johnson is full of shit with his double bluff bollocks. The most divisive MP ever.
