You literally read my mind. I am just a lowly telephone landline customer. First, my provider was Bell (as in Alexander Graham!) then it was bought by Qwest. (Us customers pronounce it “Q - Worst”) 😏. Now, my land TP provider is Century Link (but actually Lumen Tech.) LOT’S of owners and “capital ventures” but HOW MANY COMMITTED top management?? In my Western state in the USA, Lumen/Century Link has HORRIBLE, inaccessible “Customer Service”, an aging and ailing INfrastructure, and a totally disinterested company in general. [I just got off a 40 minute call with an incompetent foreign “customer service tech” that sounded like a 15 yr. old and took freaking FOREVER to finally get me a repair ticket] She was truly an idiot that could NOT get off the script! No independent thoughts whatsoever. **Howevet, I should give her kudos for remaining polite as I rained my nasty sarcasm upon her ** Sorry, but I - along with millions of other American customers - are Sick & Tired of lousy, incompetent Customer Service** I was ready to tear my hair out. To watch this phone company over the past 30 years go DOWNHILL In quality the way it has - is SAD, because, #1. I am a born American, and this is an American Company. #2. It’s INFURIATING, because there’s NO, **zero!** excuse for this. Lastly, sir, you are 💯 Percent right that Lumen/CL should immediately go into manufacturing of telephones ☎️ 📞☎️, yes, land line phones, and other devices and equipment. They need to build products that they KNOW are compatible with their own infrastructure. There will ALWAYS be a slot for landline phone systems - and the phone company and phone customers need ones that are well built with QUALITY components and durable; unlike this Chinese made cr** that is sold on Amazon.

The important thing to keep in mind is that Kate's renovation of the head office is coming along. Not exactly under budget, but it's going to be super-cute!

😂😄😁🙂😆 LOVE it! Think she’ll EVER WRANGLE some actual real work, or real caring customer service in the Southwest?? Because EVERYTHING about her phone company completely SUCKS out here where the coyotes howl.

Jacob, Lumen is a turnaround on a cluster of acquired legacy telecom service providers that were in decline. That said, I wish Kate well and hope that she can resolve their many challenges.

@k.hendrickson87359 ай бұрын
You nailed it. I’m one of those “legacy” landline phone customers that is really PO’d about the state of Lumen/Century Link’s business, service… everything. It’s so abysmal, why would I EVER want to get internet (or anything else) from them!? What this Phone Company needs is to wake up and realize I that: #1. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A NICHE FOR (good) landlines. ** The recent, giant, crash of ATT’s cellular service in Feb. 2024 makes that painfully, perfectly, clear!** #2. It seems like these business ‘giants’ in Gen X to Mills only want to acquire, then flip for a quick profit. (Same with their personal relationships too) They have neither the will, or guts (Dare I say Work Ethic? 😒) to roll up their sleeves and make a great business. If I was a multimillionaire, I’d buy this phone business, ADD a telephone, wiring, accessories, and components manufacturing firm as it’s right-arm, adjunct business. It would be 100% Made in America. I would **Manufacture the best damn, durable, multi-function, call blocking, wireless land phone the world has ever seen. It would make Panasonic, Dect, and ATT cry in embarrassment!** I would hire a retired American English teacher to write the Operator’s Manual! Next, I’d add a thousand, or so, non-Union, front line workers for infrastructure REPAIR and English customer service. Lastly, I’d begin a heavy advertising push towards Senior customers who are already BEGGING on arthritic knees for just a decent, economical, clear, non-stat-icky, phone service! Believe me, @DavidHDeans, there’s millions of business’ and customers who like, and will use landline services. There’s STILL a place for fax’s…. People are too ADD about “new technology” Quite often, newer is NOT better! Also, all these New-Ager’s that live in front of their stupid little cell phone screen WILL grow old, and their needs and wants WILL change. They will become intolerant of cheaply built crap, especially something as simple as a telephone. I say, bring back Ma Bell. Bring back a service that actually worked. 😭
@k.hendrickson87359 ай бұрын
One of the really nice things about a paper fax, is it’s a really nifty way to send a HANDWRITTEN NOTE to someone. It’s nice for business contracts, etc. but there’s nothing like getting a handwritten letter. Texts, of course, are quick and fun - but there’s a digital WALL between sender and recipient. It’s proven: humans NEED more interpersonal communication.

I'd turn staff into a thinktank PDQ and get do-able ideas on the table, new services or sales to make profit. I'm just a beginner in the stock market but I ran across theirs and it's nothing less than terrifying.

I am taking Kate Johnson leadership to heart. Been in technology for more than three decades. As a team member with my former company Metavante I took to heart Frank Martire III leadership when he lead the cultural transformation there. He succeeded I might add. I am already seeing some positive results with the executives. Looking forward to the complete cultural change! If you are a leader (with or without the title) I feel you will find her comments useful.

As a (Western US) landline phone customer of Century Link/Lumen I believe a LOT of what she said in this interview is utter BS - Although, I will entertain the idea that there’s a bunch of of lazy, uncaring, non-customer-oriented middle managers out here in the S/W who are “walking the dog” and telling her only what she wants to hear. Believe me - as a customer I KNOW, every aspect of this company has gone downhill; from the lines, to the “easy, online, bill-pay” … 😒😒😖. Yeah, as long as I am gullible enough to pay a DEFAULT (you cannot change it) “convenience fee” of $3.60 each month, it’s easy, alright. Lumen/Century Link is rife with JUNK FEES, and even as the bill-pay page shows an alternate way to pay my bill via a checking account routing number -** THE ALTERNATE METHOD DOES NOT WORK…ITS NON-functional**. I call that being digitally “Strong Armed”, and I suspect it is illegal, not to mention morally and ethically WRONG.

i wonder if new managers realize that people will disingenuously suck up to them. if they are not careful, then they might start to believe in a reality where they are much taller and much funnier than they actually are.

I mentioned that very thing. Because her company in MY Southwestern state has ABMYSAL service, line repair… just all of it… It feels to THIS DISGRUNTLED landline customer that they are powering-down the thing. I wonder if they are telling her what she needs to hear (lying) and continuing to treat their customers like 💩💩 out here.

Here’s a novel idea: Why not make your business fill a need - and be truly customer centric as it’s doing it?? Why not BUILD on improving their old technology, landlines, that’s STILL very, very much needed - then leaping forward with some of the more’ ‘sexy’ stuff. There’s **Genuinely a desperate NEED for quality land-line service, especially line repair. Also, for WELL MADE landline wireless phones that actually WORK beyond the Amazon 30 day warranty…**

If she’d look in the comments section and take my brilliant ideas - she could turn this phone company into something great. This company, like so many other modern companies are turning psycho in their rush for “The newest technology” How about a rush for “The best, most DEPENDABLE, technology with real, in-country customer service” ?!?! 😯 Now THAT’S a novel idea.

Nope. DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INFRASTRUCTURE - SHOW YOUR LANDLINE CUSTOMERS YOU REALLY DO CARE - The $$ REST $$$ WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. All these smarty-Pants MBA’s and they’ve forgotten The Main Thing: THE CUSTOMER The customer matters more than anything else.

Failure comes from the top: If one looks at nvidia. That’s a costumer vision centric. No bs. Knowledge and seeing around the corner as was said by nvidia. What is your solution and vision. All I hear is none actionable by he. She needs vision and understanding of what future generations are capable of achieving. New blood and vision. Looking forward doesn’t cut it.

@k.hendrickson87359 ай бұрын
A business is a helluva lot more than a stock price and a dividend. **A BUSINESS IS SUPPOSED TO FILL AN ESSENTIAL NEED OR SERVICE” If Century Link/Lumen ** Would just provide a GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE and improve the lines in my state - us customers would be ecstatic** By good customer service I mean, NOT SUB-out to a foreign phone answering service that doesn’t know ***t. Modern American Businesses are shooting themselves in their OWN FOOT by trying to cut down on American employees and stopping taking care of ME! The customer.

That is so sad. As a swing trader, I never buy more than 10 shares of any one company's stock. Many investors/traders will not go with anything but an ETF (basically an index fund or mutual fund but without all the fees). ETFs vary in their safety but in general, much safer than investing in one company.

You can see that she is a failure. Lumen Tech has been a sinking ship for a long time and she has it almost to the bottom of the Sea. They should fire her and get a good looking man to run the place. In 2014 or 2016 they started to become stupid. What changed at that time? Fire them that were hired in that time frame. Change back to the way it was before then.
