Unfortunately, the problem is that Playstation has no direct competitors. If the competition were fiercer, Playstation wouldn't be able to afford such high prices. What's more, networks aren't real life, and believe me, this PS5 Pro is going to sell like hotcakes. I'm not even talking about the PS5 Pro + GTA 6 bundle. So expect a PS6 at 900-1000 $ :)

I'm assuming it will use the same disc module as the slim, but that's still another 100 bucks, which is especially annoying if you bought a launch unit with a disc drive and all your games are on disc, so I actually have more reasons to not upgrade to this thing since out of the box it renders my entire PS5 collection unplayable. My 4090 with 13900K combo cannot do 8K, how is this supposed to achieve that? Pretty sure this will be one of those cheap tactics they did with ps4 pro when they claimed 4K and later on gave us options to downscale it 1080p to achieve a stable 60fps. Disc drive doesn’t add up much cost, £30-50 for a BluRay disc drive. These days BluRay disc drive costs as much as DVD player at the beginning of 2000s. £450-£500 is a sensible price for a Pro. £700 is over the top for no reason.

This is the problem with console gamers. You want all the performance and visual fidelity but you want it for pennies. You all do realize that the PC GPU equivalent and SSD alone cost more than the OG PS5.. 7700XT is going for $380 on sale and a Gen 4 2TB NVME drive capable of 7GB/s R/W costs about $180. It's truly beyond my comprehension why anyone would bother with a new console like this one in this era where you have thousands of games available for pennies and gaming PCs are readily available. Not to mention the previous generation consoles..

This looks like one of those products that advertise themselves as a better version of a already existing product, but in reality it is a minimal change that adds almost nothing to the product, and that they take away some of the features of their previous versions and to top it off, they charge way more for you to buy it

3:31 At the London Olympics in 2012 there were 12K display screens. When the Anthem Of The Seas cruise ship was launched in 2015 they had 12K display screens in there ‘Two70 Lounge’. So it makes me laugh that now in 2024 (12 years after the London Olympics and 9 years after Anthems launch) that we are only just about getting 8K games when 12K tech has been around for over a decade. 🤷‍♂️

I'm in no way defending the pricing. But when you look at the specs, it come with 2 TB of internal storage and Wi-Fi 7 on top of the Superior hardware. And it is compatible with the slim plates and the disc drive that's sold separately. My original disc drive version PS5 with a 2tb SSD cost me around $680 all together. So I understand where the pricing is coming from. Especially considering that they abandoned the razor and blade sell tactic. (You give the razor for free in order to sell the blades to make your money) but holy crap it is not worth upgrading. Like I wouldn't mind later on when it starts going on sale picking it up to upgrade to a slimmer model that I can easily transport. But a disk drive is absolutely a must.
