The black Wii with the Japanese case could actually be a Japanese Wii, but flashed with the American Wii Menu which could explain why Wii Sports had an update since some files could be missing after flashing the American Wii Menu, but that might be a bit of a stretch.

@@AmphiumHQ The console is already on the latest Wii Menu version (4.3) which came out in 2010 and Wii Sports came out in 2006 (revision 1 discs in 2007) so there isn't really a reason why it would normally update.

Also, you can exceed 24 hours of game time in the logs by leaving something running over night. If you change games just after midnight, and then close just before the next midnight, you can clock nearly 48 hours lol. Source: I used to leave games on over night sometimes.

Fun fact about the first Wii in the video, you can usually tell what region a console has based on the update version in the top right of the system settings menu at shown at 1:10. At that time stamp, you can see that it says: 4.3U, therefore this is in fact a North American region Wii and hence why it read North American Wii and Gamecube games no problem. So you are most likely correct that someone strangely did a case swap on this Nintendo Wii with a Japanese Wii for some reason.

@@kevinwheeler4061 Not the case. The disc had an update on it; that message is shown as a warning that _if_ the console has unauthorized modifications, the update could remove them. It is shown whenever an update is conducted, whether the console is modded or not.

And it's a little more of a nuisance to keep the gamecube port cover flap on in my experience. Because it truly does feel like there are more wiis with gamecube cover flaps than the gamecube controller cover flaps.

My Wii has both flaps and actually looked like the GameCube controller port was never used. It was also in great condition too. It wasn’t complete though but it wasn’t a bad deal. I eventually got the parts that were missing for cheap anyways. Still no box though

I was lucky and bought a GC backwards compatible Wii a few years ago from good will for $40 and it was pretty much never used. Someone bought it for that balance board, used it a few times and just stop using it. it didn't have a single scratch on the case and both doors are on it (they still are). I soft modded it and put all my games on a USB HDD, slapped Nintendont on it so I wouldn't have to use the GameCube ports.

I'm still rocking the original Wii I got as a kid when they first came out lmao both flaps still on it and it's now modded with a 128GB SD card in it. A lot of the local ones on marketplace are missing the flaps though and I genuinly don't know how they get lost, mine has been moved 6 times and has sustained exactly zero damage.

My wii was bought at launch or shortly after launch, like late 2006 or early 2007, i don't exactly remember, but I still have the 2 flaps on the top of the wii. My wii is like around 17 years old, and it still works perfectly fine, other than the disc drive sounds like it needs some oil replacement on the gears, but other than that my wii is still fully functional.

Wouldn't surprise me if whoever put that Mario Kart Wii disc in upside down just accidentally tested the Wii upside down. I mean, unlike the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (or pretty much any other game console), its obvious when the system is upside down. But not so much with the Wii. It really was the first system that looks normal when upside down (the Wii U would also appear rather normal upside down)

I used my Wii for (local) streaming right from the very beginning. There was some software for PC that would let you serve video files off your hard drive through a web interface over your LAN that you could open in the Wii browser by putting the IP address of your PC in the address bar. We used it to play downloaded anime fansubs, etc on the living room TV.

Not all Wiis work with GameCube games so be careful when buying a Wii so that you get the older model that has the GameCube support.

KING BOB... also the red wii came with Mario Bros Wii in a sleeve when it came factory. Unfortunate you didnt get it. When i bought my launch WIi, it had an issue when i bought Super Smash Bros when it released, it had an issue with not being compatible with Duel Layer DVDs for the games. I had to send it into Nintendo to get it replaced.

On the Japanese wii with english, I was gifted a japanese wii, and this was like 20 years bck so I honestly couldn't tell you how I did it, but among all my modding files I was able to format my wii and make it a north american wii (so if you opened mine, you'd probably see the same type of thing) It was doable! Man this console is my childhood I have a black backwards compatible Wii with soft mods to play and burn GameCube Iso's . I had 32 classic GC games that i ended up selling for 700$ to build a gaming pc. but i got my Iso's its hard to get these looking good on a modern tv its 480p i mean like wish it at least pushed 720p. up scaling is a hassle man. I gotta get a crt tv with component hookups for it to look its best like its designed for it right

I don't think you understand how profit works. You're listing the amounts you sold them for, but not subtracting how much you paid. That's like buying a house for a million dollars and then selling it for a million dollars and saying "I made a million dollars profit". On the red one you said $45 profit, but did that factor in the price of the new drive you fitted? How much do you originally pay for the batch of consoles?

Do think about all the games he finds in those consoles. And wii digital games are console bound and not account bound. So you can delete all accounts and keep all the stored digital games. So the wii’s with more digital games should be more expensive. And sometimes you do take a loss with new parts yes. But most just need a good cleanup so it balances all out ^^

Never got any trouble, because little brothers never get into any trouble. I use an aftermarket Wind Waker Shell now, just because... well.. the OG was trashed ^^°

I do have all the flaps on my Wii. In fact, mine is a red one; those were the Mario 20th Anniversary special edition models. They also come with red WiiMote+ and nunchuck. The sensor bar, cables, and PSU were all the regular grey though.

I'm not sure if anyone else has said this but the very first console before the update said that it was modified I think someone may have Home at some point but then the store you bought it from factory reset it so it removed the homebrew channel but the modifications stayed the same

I safely removed my wii's game cube flaps to prevent damage by either the cord resting on them or if I so happened to bump into the wii.

My wii has the flaps missing because I use my wii mainly for GC games, and because GC controllers are wired, it has seen the floor several times. On that note, I'm not surprised every wii you tested worked since those things are pretty undestructible. I've had my wii since I was 10, almost 20 years ago.

My first Wii's Gamecube flaps broke after a few years of use. The mechanism that holds the flaps in place is fragile, and couldn't handle opening it and closing it multiple times a day. Surprisingly, my 2nd Wii did not have this issue. P.S. I find opening a Wii is annoying due to the variety of screws holding the case.

My Wii, which I got new when I was a kid, still has the flaps and works great. It is the Super Mario Bros 25th Anniversary red wii.
