One of my favorite lyrical choices in this song is the use of "helpless". The layer added to the word considering it was first introduced by Eliza when she was helplessly in love with Alexander, and then it's later tainted by Maria Reynolds in the second act during Hamilton's affair.

This is one of my favorite hidden gems! In regards to the opening of the show: Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Hercules/James Madison: “WE FOUGHT WITH HIM” (Lafayette and mulligan fight with him in the war, Jefferson and Madison FOUGHT with him politically.) John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton: “ME, I DIED FOR HIM.” (😢) Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds: ME, I LOVED HIM. (Peggy, as a brother-in-law- “Peggy confides in me”, and Maria as a lover.)

Other than that: The last line from Hamilton saying "Nobody needs to know" is a direct quote from The Last Five Years musical song Nobody Needs To Know, and an homage to its genius writer Jason Robert Brown who's an inspiration to Lin-Manuel Miranda. The song is about the male lead cheating on his wife and the orchestration is done with 2 celli and a violin. Therefor the last string motive could also be interpreted as a musical homage to that same song.
