Glen Campbell is playing a 12 string Ovation Bluebird. It is one of the most sought-after Ovation guitars, associated with Glen and was hand-crafted exclusively for him. There were only approximately 6 made, some 6 string, some 12. Glen had quite the history with Ovation. He was one of their first endorsees. (If you want to see Glen REALLY shred it, watch, "Glen Campbell shreds on Guitar Boogie". Not requesting a reaction...just recommending it as a must watch)

@@zendodeb yes, lots of work with the Wrecking Crew. Glen played on 580+ songs, in 1963, alone. Before he got into the studio work, he was a member of The Champs. He also toured with the Beach Boys for awhile, playing Brian's part, when Brian had his nervous breakdown. Glen said it was one of the hardest things he ever did--playing bass and singing in Brian's high key, at the same time. The best one that I've heard yet is when Eddie Van Halen asked Alice Cooper to get him some guitar lessons with Glen! Glen & Alice were extremely close friends

Building homes/ managing communications doesn't equal to ART. The first are utility . Music is about art and discipline. When music is being managed by computers , the soul is gone. TRUE MUSICIANS are ministers to the human soul. So there IS a need for personal discipline and generosity of the spirit. JS

I don’t think musicianship has changed I think what people find as entertainment has changed. Country music used to appeal to an older crowd. How many 13-25 year olds would want to watch two middle aged one overweight Men pick a guitar with no lyrics. It’s sad but the demographics they target changed thus cheapening the entertainment.

Technology vs. Talent Using technology is okay, until you lose the talent which is sadly where Music is going. It isn't the technology, but that it paired itself with Sampling in the 1990's and that was the beginning of the end for innovation and creativity in Music. For the last 20 years it all sounds very similar. Try comparing a pop song from 1950 and 1970, or 1960 and 1980. They are shockingly different and a complete change from the previous style. Now, it has all been done before, maybe a key change here, A (sampled) riff there, . . .

Jacob, this was a weekly comedy music program called Hee Haw, where Roy spent a lot of his time. Roy could play anything with strings like a virtuoso: 6- or 12-string, mandolin, and violin/fiddle. For that reason, a rock guitarist responded, when asked what it was like to be the world's best guitarist, "I don't know. You need to ask Roy Clark." Here's another clip of him with a young boy named Jimmy: Roy Clark & Jimmy - www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFadV...

You should check out Glen Campbell playing "Ain't No Sunshine" from London in a live broadcast from 1975. It really highlights his guitar playing. A lot of people will say his version of the 1812 Overture, but I like "Ain't No Sunshine" much more. And just about any version of Roy Clark performing "Malagueña." There is a great live version from 1988 and he preformed it on the TV show *The Odd Couple* in 1971. That version is good, but it is a 1971 TV show... People overlook these two because Country Music and because they were entertainers, not just guitar players.

It gets forgotten that there is always lots of uninspired music floating around. At the same time The Rolling Stones, and Queen were tearing up the music scene there was something called 'Bubblegum Rock'. Don't look it up, it's worse than you think. There are plenty of fine musicians around today, I have no doubt. Granted the overproduced sound that sells right now makes it harder to spot them, but they're still there.
