Literally every gen has cringe. Sometimes people do weird shit for 15 minutes of fame. It's not the trend or the hype or the irony/earnest in your interests or hobbies. It's the desperation that's truly cringe when you get down to it.

Yeah, millennials were the first gen to broadcast their cringe online, but gen z is doing the same cringe things (prank channels and influencer houses come to mind). Sure, millennials came up with cringe words, but let's be honest, no one is gonna be saying bussin, no cap, or cheugy in 10 years.

something to add to the gen z discussion: i think something that really separates the generations is the idea of "cringe is dead" because whatever harmless and fun thing you do someone will call it cringe regardless and i think people are fed up with shaming people who do weird harmless things they like. and i think the acceptance of being cringe and embracing it is kinda cool of gen z.

As an elder millennial hearing this young baby Trin talk about seeing messed stuff on the internet makes me feel feelings. Legit we had no regulations on the web at all it was the Wild West… old creeps chatting us up in chat rooms and I remember being a little kid just accidentally opening beheading videos… our parents just assumed the internet was safe. Perhaps the cringe came from the trauma lol. And poor Gen X was just left to parent themselves. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think Gen Z fails to realize we were raised by Boomers, who had to be told via commercials, posters, and news reports, not to abuse us....some many of us, are effed up from trauma. I legitimately was horribly abused, and my Boomer parents lost custody of my little sister and I, and to this day, they still say, they think what they did wasn't "that bad"...hello, we had order of protections from you both until we were 18. I had to get an R.O. against my mom, as a 30 yr old. What's sad is I know more fellow Millennials with a similar traumatic childhood, then those who didn't. So we're all jacked up, medicated, anxious, adults who hide from the doorbell and phone calls....😂 However, I absolutely love most of Gen Z...and I hope they and Gen Alpha can unfŭçk all the horrific §hit this world is dealing with now. I don't hate on them, I really don't...many of them have a far better EQ the Gen X and Boomers....and even a lot of us Millennials. 😂. I have Gen z step kids, and my bio kids are all Gen Alpha...and they understand far more about the world, than I did at their ages.
@GingerThereforeNoSoul

my millennial manager acts like she a boomer or smth, today she said, "your generation doesn't even know what they are", bro could not sound more like an old grandma by saying that. Transphobic AND cringe damn 💀

I'm sorry but as a millennial, how am I supposed to "fix it"? Like...i grew up in just as much of a fucked up society as anyone born after me will experience. I'm not ignorant and I vote but addressing millennials as a whole and just saying....fix it?? Bro...most people that didn't vote in the last election were within the Gen Z age bracket.

As a Gen Z, I think they were both joking and relating to millenials "fixing" the cringe state of the internet (as a joke). Not... fixing the general state of the world. We blame boomers for that one, millennials are fine.

i love the gen conversations because in the era i grew up in it was redefined *constantly*. Gen X/Y/Z it was being argued within months of contention. No one had a decent justification but everyone was subscribed to this compartmentalized generational hate. there was a comment here, but you guys do realize the song "We Didn't Start the Fire" was a literal anthem to stop blaming "gen x" for what "baby boomers" created. Actually wait, I think it was "the best generation" (yes they actually called themselves that) blaming "baby boomers" for everything. I use all those terms in quotes because all of this is redefined now. There are those who call anyone pre 2k "baby boomers" - it's all way too fluid. Keep in mind if you're confused by this the next generation will likely call anyone born in the ENTIRE RANGE of 2000-2020 or so: "millennials". Same thing! Have fun with that!

I wore a Gir from Invader Zim hoodie religiously until it stopped fitting, and that got swapped for a TMNT zip up in high school. No one is immune to cringe

i use opera and i genuinely love it, it's basically run off chrome but the miniplayer feature for streaming video is so useful when i wanna have youtube on in the background while i do other stuff on my computer (like write this comment) the shortcuts on the sidebar are also pretty cool

I'm really excited for 5-10 years from now when Gen alpha is just absolutely ripping Gen Z to shreds for the shit they're doing now. Trust me, shutter shades and skinny jeans were SO COOL in 2012. Just wait. You'll get old and lame, too.

As a Gen z we are cringe as hell, have you ever been around a group high school/late middle school kids? Every five seconds someone is reciting a TikTok audio or screaming some new TikTok lingo like “slay” or “gyat”. It’s not even ironic anymore, i have to take the bus that has most of the “popular” kids and i start tearing up from how badly I’m cringing 😭
