That is such a good lesson , being vulnerable and engaging emotionally after disappointment has been one of my biggest hurdles , hearing Jada say that self protection removes God from the role of protector just gave me so much perspective.

I am sorry sometimes trust needs to be rebuilt. You will never put a peodo around your child. Or a thief in charge of your money. Forgiveness does not always equal trust.

@Ashleigh thank you for articulating that phrase. I have never heard it before but you are right on point.
@tialatrec95374 жыл бұрын
No it doesn’t. Forgiveness doesn’t equal trust. But I don’t think that is what is being said. What I see it is as is...Trust God but forgive the person, always forgive the person. And then we trust God on if we should or should not allow an opportunity to build that trust again. The trust is always in God first and his understanding and what he says and where he guides us not necessarily in the person. If that makes sense.

I think i also contributed to all this knowing what type of person he was. I even sent him a text to end the friendship coz he was acting so wired and did not talk to me. I was really lonely so I wanted someone to be by my side even when i could see that he was taking our friendship for granted. Its not easy making friends and he was my only friend......but iv Learned the hard way. ...then I remembered “He will Never leave me Nor forsake me” i was then filled with Joy.... and im now in the process of starting over with God as my best friend, who sticks closer than a brother

Write everything down how they hurt me you and ask the holy spirit to help you release the person. Tear it up and ask for guidance you might need to reposition but still love them.

I know I'm self protecting right now because I have been hurt over and over by the same set of people. They live in denial of this and always believe they are on the right. It is hard to emotionally engage these people again... I don't know if I even want to try anymore. What you are saying is true but it feels like opening a healing scar. I don't know if I want to go through that trauma of vulnerability with them anymore. So for now, I pray the Lord will help me ...because in the process of walling out these people it feels like I am also walling out everyone else and the holy spirit, from taking control of the hurt. I am self protecting... which I know is not okay. Please pray for me.

I just recently broke up with my male friend our friendship was platonic, but he did have feelings for me , which i (from) the start dismissed. We agreed to be friends and went on trips together, but then he changed, when i already started investing my heart, time and effort..... he disappointed me so many times thou i gave him chances over and over again.... for a year.....and i gotten used to his disappointments that it became so toxic. I blame myself because i could see him for who he was but i gave him so many chances.

I think people avoid life groups because we literally don’t know how to respond when someone fails us. I think that comes from unhealthy close friend and family dynamics, which have not taught us how to engage after betrayals or perceived betrayals. I’m in a life group now, but only now, which is after I’ve learned to set up healthy boundaries and stick to them as opposed to feeling guilty about them and resentful later. 1 step at a time, but the “Christian people to do life with” step is necessary, I believe, and GOOD! 🙂

I needed to hear this. I just listened at this about 6 times. I don't know how to be a friend to anyone, and I don't trust anyone. I have a problem being a friend because how I was taught at home and in church. I have been single married and now a widow and I have been taught a married woman don't need to be around a single woman. And I don't understand this at all. A lot of my friends are married and they can't be around me because I'm single so they cut me off. I have never disrespect anyone marriage. I just don't try being friends with anyone because I know if they are single one day they will get married and the friendship is over. Can someone please explain this to me.
