The last eighteen months or so of Jada Pinkett Smith’s life have been… well, complicated. But complicated is nothing new for the multi-hyphenate who now hosts Red Table Talk and has a new book, Worthy, her gripping memoir tracing her origins in Baltimore to her throne as reigning queen of refusing to fit into anyone’s idea of who she should be. Pinkett Smith shares her perspective as a young girl from her grandmother’s garden, as a young woman at Baltimore School of the Arts, where one of her closest friends was Tupac Shakur, and as a starlet in the heady 1990s heyday of opportunity for Black actresses. Her exhilarating highs came with devastating lows; Pinkett Smith has shared openly about her depression and even suicidal ideation-in this wide-ranging interview, Pinkett Smith opens up about coming through those dark times, falling in, out, and in another kind of love with her life partner Will Smith, and, yes, her take on “The Holy Slap.”

Why am I seeing her everywhere? I just don’t see any value in continuing airing personal stains publicly. Quietly and privately is the noble way to heal the family trauma and shame. I never would have predicted that Katie Couric would do do this interview. ☹️

IF Will had done the shit that this woman did? hooking up with his daughter's friend for example or Humiliating his wife on his show round table show. He would be ostracized from society in an instant, Will would be labeled a podophilic groomer and sexual assaulter and rightfully so. But this woman gets interviews and a book tour. To be honest. Life can be confusing. Maybe her life is confusing. Maybe she made mistakes but also maybe she forgave Will’s mistakes. Maybe she’s hanging in there the best she can and she doesn’t want to quit trying to live better. She is worthy because she is alive another day. No one but God gives her life each day. I am so tired of everybody acting like Will is some helpless victim in his marriage. You really should read his book. In it he admits to stepping outside of his marriage. He talks about having to learn to be less controlling, less dominating and more open to seeing and accepting others feelings. While he was focused on becoming the biggest movie star, making movies EVERY YEAR, his family was failing. HIS WORDS, not mine. It’s all in his book but you guys have decided to run with the popular social media narrative that Jada is manipulating this very kind and beloved movie star who surely couldn’t be a whole real person with flaws of his own. Everybody wishing that he would just divorce Jada, WHY, so he can start dating some young 24 year old that just wants to spend all of his money, while basking in the glow of all his hard work, and frequently “forgetting” to take her birth control pills so she can secure the bag 👶🏽? So he can just be alone to focus on his craft? In the past 30 years Will has focused on his craft just fine, bad marriage for life, ex wife and, wonderful kids in tow. What we are seeing is them telling us what they already went through years ago. Will and Jada have said that they are back together as healthier people, like they had intended. Jada loves Will and Will loves his azz some Jada. If you are tired of hearing about it stop clicking on the videos. Y’all just love to come online and complain. It must make you feel good.
