Yes, this is a thoughtful discussion. Ah, the evening of watching this, the observation Jade Fox made about mix-n'-match earrings just happened to be part of the 3rd episode of the 2nd season of the comedy show, " Los Espookys", which was silly fun : ) Also, no offense intended, the beginning thought excercise of adding to the Canadian-themed title, ( though this may be more camp-related), intro for Breann Williamson brought GORP, ( good old raisins & peanuts) to mind. ( In highschool, it's what we ate while on a trip camping in Canada.) -I did hear that only one in three people in the discussion likes outdoors-y stuff, and that is not this week's co-host, though. ( -GORP: sounds gross, but it's sweet and savory.)

What I meant to add is: Jade Fox's story of awkward encounters while trying to just buy some pineapple brought the type of characters that comedian Caitlin Reilly nails, ( see " Girl Who Thinks The Gays Love Her", probably based on years of observations. Even so, the guest had plenty of other experiences to share. Fox just described the cringe-worthy aspects very well.

tldr JADE talking about male validation in her teen years- the weird feeling of "if I could achieve this, I could achieve anything" being what kind of led us gay women to still think we wanted men in our early sexual ~journeys~ ... it's so earth-shatteringly true and I never ever ever had the right way of describing it til she said that. ALSO OMFG BRE THE PICKME GIRL TO LESBIAN PIPELINE IS ALSO SO SPOT-ON Y'ALL ARE M U R D E R I N G ME -- I feel like each year I try to reexamine why I could possibly have sought out men for so long when I so clearly didn't like them UNLESS they rejected me or were v hard to get, and only felt good about it when I achieved 'getting' them and knew they desired me, and knew it wasn't JUST solely validation of confidence but couldn't understand why I only loved the chase or why I only loved the eventual success but nothing beyond that (other than one and a half relationships I can say did break that barrier). and I never fully get it right so I always end up realizing I need to rewrite it (re-analyze it for myself.) but Jade saying that just changed everything. that is what it was. it was feeling like if I got that down, I could do anything else. and that may sound like validation to some people but it's not the same because validation in the sense I mean is just confirmation of the deserving of confidence, if that makes sense. the need to feel like you could achieve anything is a desire for power, over yourself and your life. which i so desperately did not have anywhere else in my life. and the reason I think I felt so disgustingly in love with the people who I chased but didn't want me in more ways than sexual is because I think it lost out on that "power" aspect for me. I'll tell you what. something thing I didn't realize as a teenage girl that I really really wish I did. the heartbreak I thought I faced when I failed on those relationships... were NOTHING compared to the heartbreak I felt when I failed on (lost out on, lost, or broke) female friendships. like WOW was that incredibly painful, and I didn't realize it was cuz the feelings I had for some of them were way stronger romantically than the ones i had for the guys, and the platonic ones too were far stronger than the ones I even had for the male CRUSHES! being a teenage girl, especially a queer one, is fucking deceiving. and while I know a lot of the topics on this podcast are very adult, I also know teens already absorb that way ahead of time, so I hope confused teens stumble upon this instead of some of the other shit that fucks them up instead of potentially helps them or at least makes them laugh about their strugglees. love you guys. thank you for your vulnerable stories no matter how comedically they are told.
