hi Jade, i have a question about the generic form 0008 Question 12, my wife is in the US for Visitor/tourist visa for more than 6months as she extend her visa until December, but when i try to put the future date of her exit like on December it doesn't accept the date so i cant validate the form. wondering any suggestion, or i might just wait for her exit on that country and start the application after? please help much appreciated. So I have a question. One, I work a cash job so how can I prove my income to sponsor? The second thing is that you mentioned if you cannot open a joint account then show money transfers sent, but it was never needed of me to send my wife money.

Biometrics are requested for everyone, it does not indicate approval or refusal.

5 months if you apply online, if you apply as paper, they sometimes never issue it.

Hey Jade! Thanks for this clear and concise guide! A quick question about visitor visas. Currently, my fiancee (US citizen) and I (Canadian citizien) will be getting married in the US in a few months. We will be coming back to Canada after our wedding/honeymoon (so the total length of stay in the US will only be ~2 weeks). This leads me to 2 questions: 1. When crossing the border back to Canada, what should we say to the border patrol officer? I've heard some horror stories about being turned away for mentioning spousal sponsorship 2. If she is able to come to Canada and live with me, she will most likely only be able to stay for 6 months due to the visitor visa's limitations. So while we wait for the spousal sponsorship to finish processing, we will most likely have to apply for the visitor extension, correct? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks :)

Hi Jade, love your videos can a partner visit Canada for 6 months then request to extend their stay in order to qualify as a common-law partner? Or is it better to leave the country after 6 months and return?Maybe you can do a video about that

You can, it's usually the last case resort for clients because it means that the sponsored partner won't be able to work or leave the country for over two years, but it is possible.

It's not sponsorship then in this case. It would be a SOWP which is a different application.

You can, I would provide a letter of explanation just so that the officer understands that you’ve applied for it.

I usually suggest starting the process right away, Canada will question why you delayed the application.

Hi Jade, thanks for the video. i have a question. As a future PR God willing, i'd like to know if just after 3 moths after landing in Canada as PR, i could go back to my country, get married to my fiancee, and then come back to canada to sponsor her. She is pregnant now and we want her to deliver before getting into the marriage preparation, aslo because we won't have the time to get marry before i fly to Canada. Is there a time or period required to be in Canada as new permanent resident in order to be eligible to sponsor? Thank you

You sure can, it may be faster to add her on your application now at the end of the day, but if it has to wait until after you land, then you can land and then sponsor her for PR. Remember that the baby will also need to be sponsored.

Hello, I am a Canadian citizen, my husband and I met while we were both on vacation. We moved together to Malta, got engaged and then came back to his home country (Argentina) we got married and now we are starting the paperwork so we can go to Canada and settle there. We are doing and outland sponsorship, and since I have been away travelling (technically on an extended sabbatical) for a year now I was told that a letter from my mother stating that she would house us and support us and also a letter from my employer stating an open invitation upon return to Canada would be enough PLUS I also have the will and communication from the lawyer with regards to my great-aunts estate as I am receiving an inheritance very soon. My husband also already has applied for several jobs and has offers for interviews once we arrive in Vancouver. Can you please tell me if this will be good enough for me to be approved as a sponsor? :) Thank you so much for all your work :)

Hi there, it sounds like it, but every officer interprets this provision differently, I find even in my cases where I include it upfront, they will ask for additional documentation to support your intent to move back to Canada once the PR is approved. Often if the person is able to travel to Canada you have to explain why you are not moving now.

I am just so nervous to make a mistake because it is a lot of money to spend on the fees!! I hope this will be good enough for them !

Hi there, it does seem a bit odd, but paying the RPRF late can delay the process a bit. You may want to send a webform with the receipt to ensure it’s been received.

I would include a letter of explanation, along with the two marriage certificates and the divorce certificate. I think a very detailed letter of explanation about the seriousness of the relationship would also be prudent.
