10:25 Small correction: the Stanley Hotel is what INSPIRED the Shining. The movie was not filmed there. The interiors were all sets built for the movie, and the exterior was the Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood in Oregon. Some "close-up" exteriors were also sets. However, some of the interior sets were heavily inspired by the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, CA. If you want to visit a hotel that ALMOST looks like the one in The Shining, that's your best bet.

The Ahwahnee does have Shining vibes 😀 but not nearly as sinister. I've also been to the Timberline Lodge and it's TINY. They only have like 5 rooms lol. There's no way they could've fit all of that in there. It's insane they used it for exterior shots. I guess they wanted to make it look lonely and isolated. But there's so many other alpine-type hotels in America they could've used.
@tvtakeoff
@tvtakeoff 10 ай бұрын
lol I just commented the same thing 🤣 it’s understandable where the confusion comes from. I highly recommend visiting the Stanley if you can! They do tours so you don’t actually have to stay there (it’s pricey). But you can stay in the room where king stayed which would be very cool! Have you seen King’s version of The Shining movie?

I made the mario 64 image a while back, I got bored one day and imported the mario 64 textures into CSGO and made a little map with them. I threw it in gimp to try and make it look like a magazine scan and the rest is history. Im surprised you actually credited me as the source because not many people do.

Hey! I’m from Costa Rica, and I’ve been to the Museo de los Niños several times throughout my life and yes! The Mouth Room is from there! The first photo is old because I do remember the little posters on the walls from my childhood, and the floor is supposed to be a tongue labeled with the different tastes. Also, that museum is known to be FILLED with liminal spaces, and many people find it unsettling. Probably because it used to be a prison and is said to be haunted lol.

Before the backrooms became mainstream it was kinda mysterious and had some kind of enticing feel to it, but KZbin kids has ruined yet another creepypasta. And now content about the backrooms includes monsters that don’t make the backrooms scary anymore. I’d rather be stuck in an endless maze with a creature so that I don’t go completely insane. All I’m saying is, content about the backrooms is too oversaturated.

At 10:16 I can confirm 100% it's the national children's museum in Costa Rica, I'm from there and I remember really well that room, I think the photos look different because of some remodelations done there, if you're curious the whole place is basically a giant liminal space heaven lmao, I remember going there a lot as a child and the place always gives the liminal space vibe, even before I knew what liminal spaces were.

I think I've seen a pattern here. The thing that makes these liminal space similar between each other is the fact that not only seems kinda familiar and nostalgic, but in a deep part of our souls we kinda feel bad and unsettled seing it empty and I think we actually would like to visit it in real life. This is for example why in particular there are so much photos taken in playhouses or pools: we think that seing it empty and peopleless, but still that it would be such a funny place and deep in our souls, we get back to "child mode" and would like to enjoy it in real life. Anyways... another awesome video of the series!!! It's incredible how much work you pit into it!!! Keep it up, pal!

9:32 the mouth room is from the children’s museum in costa rica, been there as a child myself, the museum has a bunch more places that could also be considered liminal, also the museum has always given me bad vibes, probably because it used to be a penitentiary, then the first lady turned it into the children’s museum. I don’t know if it’s true, but there are plenty of stories from night guards experiencing paranormal stuff there, al creepy shit aside, it’s definitely a fun place to visit once you are grown

13:58 I knew this bridge looked familiar! I had seen the liminal photo of the bridge alone before, and I really recognised it. After seeing the location, I realised that I have walked under that bridge before. Until I was 10 years old, I lived in SW London and my dad used to drive me down to Kensington to get my hair cut in a hairdressers called Trotters. I double checked and Kensington was indeed where the bridge is. I remember walking under there on the way to the hairdressers, and on the way me and my dad would go to Holland park. Very simple but good memories :)

these videos make me so emotional because despite the supposed lonely, desolate feelings of liminal spaces, they were once so dearly inhabited and lived in, places where people made childhood memories or poured their hearts into works of art. and the fact that liminal spaces are so popular just goes to show that they are still cherished in the hearts of many. these places were never really abandoned. they are still held fondly in our minds and memories ... they are places filled with love

2:32 this is why buzzfeed unsolved with shane and ryan is the BEST paranormal show bc they don’t take that shit seriously and make things super dramatic 😭😭 (ryan does sometimes but it balances out w shane’s whole personality) and both of them actually cover interesting topics and discuss the cases intelligently and both give their opinions from different perspectives, from a non-believer of the paranormal to a super-believer and i just think it’s so interesting tbh

8:03 When the Millennium Dome in London first opened, there was a giant human body which you could travel into and explore. That place was creepy, and gave off a similar vibe to the mouth room. This quote basically sums up the experience... _"I remember ascending up the escalator in to the next section of the plastic sweat-box, then coming to a stop in a massive crowd of other terrified screaming children underneath the devil itself - the giant beating heart, where we remained stood for what felt like an eternity. This thing was huge. It was hung from the top of the giant chest we were all stood in, with huge veins feeding in to it, and the entire thing was moving and beating very loudly. I remember standing there, utterly terrified with my eyes closed, thinking 'what have I got myself into here'. Is this how it all ends, trapped in an airtight, plastic fart-box, about to either suffocate to death or somehow be consumed by that horrifying giant beating heart?"_ Edit: There's footage of it at 'The Millennium Dome Exhibition Full Walk Through in Greenwich London 2000 Hi8 Video'. The place is a massive liminal space in its own right, especially near the end of the year when it became neglected and empty.

I’m close to Hartford city ( I also live in indiana) and the county and city itself is a example of rural poverty, blackford county (the county Hartford city is located in) is practically abandoned, with many ghost towns abandoned elementary schools etc.

I'm from Costa Rica, the mouth room is indeed in the National Children's Museum, the reason the newer pictures look different is because there were some renovations around 3 years ago and they were taken during the day! A fun fact from the museum is that it used to be a prison a long time ago, you can still see some remains of the old structure including the prison cells. I'm thinking on visiting some time soon while the place is empty and take some pictures from different sections of the museum as the whole place has that weird eerie vibe to it.

Okay this is super specific and obscure for me to point out, but at 16:20 , the song playing faintly in the background happens to be a song called "Will You Come Back My Love", a muzak tune..which was the last song to be heard and recorded at the world trade center on 9/11 right before they collapsed..

I am from Costa Rica and I’ve been in the mouth room. Even when ppl say it is unsettling, I really liked that room, used to sit on the teeth when little, also at some point they used to have a huge toothbrush to brush the teeth. It’s curious that’s the room they say looks liminal, when literally that whole museum has a bunch of liminal spaces, also it used to be related to the military.

One of the discord entree imagines, the snake roller coaster that appearsto be indoor is from a children’s entertainment venue that used to be famous in Puerto Rico in the 90s and early 2000s. It was called Wonderpark and I have a lot of memories regarding that ride. Unfortunately it doesn’t exist anymore but I know there’s a lot of family pictures that feature a lot of liminal spaces from that venue.

It’s quite interesting to see random, unassuming places in this world can get recognition in the most random of ways. Most famously the Abbey Road zebra crossing. Millions travel to Abbey Road every year just to get a glimpse of some random white stripes that can be found in many other places around the world. Someone painted those stripes who knows how long ago, probably with no idea how iconic they would become, all because they got featured on some famous album.

18:22 is a family rollercoaster called Python Pit, or possibly a rethemed/renamed version of the same ride. A handful of identical Python Pit coasters were built for a chain of family entertainment centers called Jeepers. They mostly operated in the northeast and midwest US, and had probably around twenty locations at their high point between the late 90s and late 00s. As Jeepers locations started closing, the Python Pit rides tended to get moved around either to other Jeepers locations or other FECs, so this photo might be from one of those. I went to a Jeepers occasionally as a kid, but I don't remember the track being green, the fake spiderweb, or the snake being pink. All the photos I can find online have a green snake. That said, the snake head is definitely the same shape, and the track layout is the same. I remember that the location I went to made the kinda-boring layout more fun by having the last turn go into a separate room that was dark and had spooky cartoon eyes all over the walls.

When I was a child, we used to live right next to the Burnsville Mall. We went to that mini golf course countless times before it was shut down for good. To me, it was a common place for large family get-togethers. It was sad to watch it fall apart and eventually be shut down. I often go back to visit it, and believe it or not, it's still there. Nobody has taken it down. I really found it amazing that you mentioned it because as long as I can remember, the course has felt dream-like. If you're ever in Minnesota, I completely recommend stopping by. It's on the bottom floor of the mall.
