grigori yefimovich rasputin was a russian mystic and faith healer. he is best known for having befriended the imperial family of nicholas ii, the last emperor of russia, through whom he gained considerable influence in the final years of the russian empire.
rasputin was born to a family of peasants in the siberian village of pokrovskoye, he had a religious conversion experience after embarking on a pilgrimage to a monastery in 1897 and has been described as a monk he travelled to saint petersburg and captivated a number of religious and social leaders, eventually becoming a prominent figure in russian society. in november 1905, rasputin met nicholas ii and his empress consort, alexandra feodorovna.
jafar is a fictional character in walt disney pictures' animated film aladdin (1992). he is voiced by jonathan freeman, who also portrayed the character in the broadway musical adaptation. jafar also appears in the 1994 sequel to aladdin, but he is not in the 1996 third film or the television series, and now he rap battes rasputin in a freshy kanal rap battle and he does return in the latter's crossover hercules and the arabian night.

Jafar isn't purely fictional though. He's based on Ja'far ibn Yahya, a vizier to the Persian Caliphate in the mid to late 700s. He was a big patron of the sciences and is credited with introducing paper making to Baghdad. He was also a political manipulator - along with his father and brothers who were also viziers at the time - and had a big hand in controlling the Caliphate until he was eventually executed. We don't know the exact reason for this, but it is believed to be a direct result of an affair with the Caliph's sister coming to light along with his personal power and influence being a threat to the Caliph.
