While I'm definitely not in the market for a set of these, you have made some very valid points Terry (myself being an ex-business owner, I'm hearing you & one of the reasons I really miss the challenge of running my own show) If the company are at all any good, they will take the constructive criticism on board for sure! Oh! yes, I did pick the headlights early on & I was thinking I must have missed something 😂We need more honest videos like yours, no BS... just factual, your personal opinion & how "you" did the fitment😎 (I bet that swim after was good!!👍)

I have had it on for 2 years on the 200, car is not used as a daily driver. I have had no issues with it except those blasted Rhinohide logos wanting to peel off. I have had to replace the double sided tape on them. Car is white with carbon fibre wrap on the hood which helps a little by masking the colour clash of the black panels on the white car. I like the peace of mind these panels give irrespective of the look. Yes the fuel panel was a bit of a curve ball & should have been flagged like the snorkel heads up.

Hi Terry, I have been running the Bush Barriers on the Y62 for a few 10 day Victoria High Country trips ("Big fridge magnets" is a good description). I've been happy with them, not lost any on the 110km/ hour highway trips from Sydney. Good protection from sticks flying up and hitting the panels.

Great vid Terry and once again, a very educational approach to the upgrade and your detailed and learned process to prep and complete this project. 10/10 mate! As for the questionable dealing and promotional activity of RhinoHide it makes a consumer sit up and listen to your very valid comment and believe me, all taken on board that will resonate heavily before I spend $ with them. Thank you! Also love the new rubber boots - you collected and had fitted! ✅

5 X kits were allocated at 50% off and further codes were released through the day with other discounts, again in limited volume. It was not a scam, it was a genuine discount and unfortunately, Terry missed out.
@tonyf79977 ай бұрын
@@MB-ld6wq - 5 kits ???? Why bother. You may get better traction if you do a decent sale either for a weekend or a limited time , not based upon a small insignificant quantity.
@JafffaAdventures7 ай бұрын
@tonyf7997 I agree mate, but remember during the campaign they never actually disclosed there were 5 kits, so you walked into the promo thinking if you get the discount code, you got the deal. Transparency is not their strong suit in my humble opinion. Cheers 👍😎

@@JafffaAdventures - agree Terry. If a company is going to have a real sale do so but a bit like a bait advertising only having a few on sale with zero mention of that very important point … Cheers

Good on you Terry, another ripper review. I looked at upgrading my panels, but gee you have to question the cost stepup and so i have stuck with the original set and using black gaffa tape (my car is black) on the top edges of the front panels as they are the ones that have come off on a few occasions, and that stops them lifting off by preventing the wind getting in behind. I spoke to a guy down here who has the new version an the only issue he made a point of was the number of times he has caught his shirt sleeve on the panels as they stick out a bit more. Good comments of yours on their marketing guff, I did look at perhaps trying to repurpose my current panels but they won't go at that.... so for the moment I'll stick with what I have. Avagreatone 👍

Thanks Andrew. I used the magnetic panels for years and they served me well. I’m sure you will get excellent use out of yours. Enjoy your travels my friend 👍😎
@MB-ld6wq7 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew, unfortunately there are a couple of reasons why the old magnetic kits cannot be refurbished with the new system. Firstly, the gauge of the material on the magnet kits is thinner and doesn't span without touching the paint, the thinner gauge material means the clearances in the fastener also don't work and it engages sloppily. The magnets are almost impossible to remove which would mean magnets are stuck permanently on the vehicle which as Terry has pointed out without maintenance can cause chaffing. Hopefully that gives some clarity.

Great Video Terry. Apart from Ronny Dahl's fitting it to the landcruiser and a Prado. You are the only other person I have seen on KZbin who has fitted it to 4wd. They are missing out on a chance to get their product out to the market. Not having a display vehicle fitted out and going to all the 4wd shows in Australia.

Nice clip Terry, as you said on a full time Offroad truck they are fine, but my OCD would not deal with the clips when they're off. I have run the Bush Barrier panels but they also have some shortcomings, my new rig will be clear wrapped with the good stuff. Cheers Steve

Hey Terry My 200 is a white one. In my previous comment, I mentioned that I picked up a brand new set of the magnetic Rhino hides off Market place for $400. They are grey in colour and look average on the car. It's not as bad as the black ones 😂 Autobarn mixes colour coded paint in a spray can. I'm considering spraying them. What's your opinion on auto spray paint? I may give it a go. I love your videos for the past 4 years. You're very clever.
@JafffaAdventures8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words and support mate, I sincerely appreciate it. I think the rattle cans that Auto barn and other suppliers mix would be problematic, especially a light over dark colour. One scratch and you have cut through the colour and down to the dark panel below. Before too long it would look pretty ordinary. If I was going down the rattle can route, I’d use base coat as you described, but then hit that with a 2 pak satin clear. You can get 2 pak clear in a rattle can. The reason 2 pak is important is that it’s tough and can handle abrasions. Single stage clear would be as fragile as single stage colour in a rattle can. Don’t forget the plastic primer first. Go well mate👍😎

Great video. Thanks for such a comprehensive review. Although you said defending claims is arrigant, I do want to clarify a couple of points. 1. The black Friday sale discount was allocated to the first 5 kits ordered. They were available at 50% off we released further dicounts over the day again in limited numbers, that wasnt a marketing dupe. You simply weren't fast enough unfortunately. The paint breathing is regarding moisture being trapped against the clear coat. Its not a dig at clear wraps, they dont have an issue as they are impervious. Good ceramic coat also addresses this issue, but the factory clear coat is not fully hydrophobic. When moisture is trapped against paintwork and heated it can cause paint "blooming". Admittedly Toyota's have great paintwork and not ever been an issue in testing but some other brands suffered from this in early prototype testing on versions not released which didn't allow airflow and the moisture trapped gets sucked into the clear coat. It looks like fog on a mirror like when you've had a hot shower on a cold day. Colour coding was extremely hard to manage sku wise but will likely be making a return in the near future so watch this space. As will more videos. Thanks again for taking the time to review.

Fascinating and not unexpected response. Here’s how I would have responded if it were my business. “Dear Terry, we very much appreciate your comprehensive review. As we continue to strive to improve our products and service, real would feedback like yours is extremely valuable to us. Your comments of feeling duped by our marketing campaigns have been taken on board and we will ensure greater transparency into the future. Also, we have listened to you and others and will bring back colour coding in the near future. Great idea about the second hand panels as well, we will table that as a discussion piece in an upcoming management meeting.” Or something to that effect. Instead you took the arrogant path and simply said, “we are right and here’s why”, completely discounting how a customer “felt”. That one act speaks volumes about your company culture and attitude towards your clients. I wish you the best and trust your arrogance will not get in the way of good client centric business decisions.
