Nicely done. 45 years later and I recognized that sound instantly.

I don’t think I’ve heard any young kid sound like he’s having as much fun as it sounds like you’re having! I know you love being out there alone with only a sunny day and your airplane, but I gotta tell you-there’s not much I’d rather be doing than being out there flying with you. Don’t worry, I won’t crash your party, but if I weren’t in Myrtle Beach 1400 miles away, I’d probably be out there buggin the crap outa ya! Hahaha!! Another fun video from a great pilot and master craftsman! Thanks for sharing the good times!

I used to build stick and tissue free flight models as a kid and I always considered Guillows to be more of a static display model. They were too heavy to fly well. But, you solved that little problem! Fun to watch your success.

Oh I'm so inspired. I've got a tee-dee .020 in a box right over there...! Thanks, great flying man.

I have a handful of Cox engines and unbuilt guillows and dumas kits. I think my next RC conversion will have to be nitro powered!
@kenkingsflyingmachines2382 Жыл бұрын
I've built that model and LAUGHED at the .020 engine suggested on the plans. There was no way that would work. I bet you're still coming down from that rush!

Man that's fun! I'm still trying to get right the rubber powered version... thought about a free flight Cox as I don't know how to fly RCs. I'm 60, a bit late to start. Great "driving"! Cheers!

Dude. You have no idea how much I needed that. Thank you! And bonus points for the antithesis to the winter video. The running commentary captured the experience of finding oneself suddenly faced with the reality of a running cox reed-valve engine, the obligatory launching under duress of rapidly exhausting fuel supply, the amazement of saving the toss and actually being in flight…the sweat in the eyes comment really drive the whole experience home for me. Seriously, thank you. Long live the nitro-phoon!

Great flight with a small and fast plane. I love nitro planes but expecially this little beauty. Sharing your joy with us made me smile too. Special thanks for this one.

I have never been a big fan of British airplanes but the Typhoon is actually one that I DO like, and yours looks and flies great! I love little cox motors, totally miss the sound (and smell) of those little temperamental gems. A throw back to traditional models.

Well done, nothing like a wet motor!! adds that extra dimension to the hobby.

You actually accomplished something I've only dreamt of doing .. having built a few Guillows models, myself .. I did have Fokker Triplane, with a Cox .020 running, on it, and was about launch it .. but, it was 30 degrees, or whatever .. and I didn't realize that glow motors don't sustain, as cold as that, .. at least, mine didn't. After taking the battery clip off .. it kept running slower & slower, and finally killed .. so, I didn't give it a toss. That's as close as I've ever got to flying one. Yeah, .. your weather was quite different.
