Thank you! We bought a 2005 Ebony/charcoal VDP(105K mi). Your video is very good, thank you; I can easily do this. Tightening plugs and coil pack bolts should be torqued, but I know that you can estimate; some don't know what "not too tight" means. I watched your Porsche Cayenne video today, too, which cracked me up when you put the $$$ signs over the engine light. My engine light / dollar symbols are adding up! LOL! Anyway - thanks!

You know you're expected to break the bank(not rob, I didn't suggest that...it might help, but put that idea on hold for now). A friend - years ago, in my home state of Michigan- had a brother who managed a Porsche dealership. I learned, in short, the woes of owning a Porsche. But the people who bought those had deep pockets. If you can work on your own Porsche, imagine how much money you save! That is-as long as the next thing that needs repairs, doesn't arrive too soon. @@ejsgarage EJ! I just completed replacing the 8 plugs and ignition coils with throttle body cleaning. I could not understand how you could do all this in about 2 hours..when it took me 9 hours(two days). A 2005 VDP engine is different than yours - only one bolt to hold the coil pack! But the driver side is the nightmare. So I did it, thanks to your inspiration, but holycrap, what a job! It takes patience, strength, perseverance and of course some muscle. Thanks again!

Thanks EJ for the great video. After getting a misfire error code, I am about to attempt this job myself and have a few questions: 1. Do you recommend using the genuine Jaguar coils or do you think aftermarket are just as good? 2. Which of the two spark plug removal tools that you mention in the description (#6 and #11) do you recommend? Is there a reason to get both? 3. Do you think that all of the coils should be changed at once, or just the ones that are misfiring? Thanks again for the amazing video!

My pleasure. 1. Buy the aftermarket parts carefully. I always read the reviews and do some research. Other than that aftermarket parts should be ok. I am using aftermarket parts. 2. I like to have both tools because sometimes one tool doesn't work and it will give me an option. 3. They need to be charged all at once and make sure record it in your maintenance records. Old coils need to go anyway, so you won't get stranded.

That's great work knowing how to work on your Jaguar.But this video will be even cooler if you had more of a modern day Jaguar to work on since people don't have the earlier 2000 models anymore.I say about atleast a 2007+up model to work on would put you in the modern day Jaguar bracket

Ej need to find out where is the 8 cylinder on a v8 is misfired and do I need to change all the coil packs. I haven a tough time with shops the don't no how to fix this vehicle. Hello. Another dumb question. I suck at electrical. My 2001 Jaguar XKR requires canbus error free bulbs. My power window switches, steering wheel, floor shifter, ect do not Illuminate. They never have since I bought it 4-5 years ago. I bought some LED's from Ebay, not knowing about the canbus bulbs. I installed one, it didn't work, now I lost all my Night time dash lights. The Daylight dash still works. Is it possible to Fry my body processor module just from installing One bulb? Thank you for your time, Confused in Oregon.

EJ I purchased the ignition coil for my jaguar but they are the wrong ones my are smaller in the connection plugin.

You have an XJR too. If you buy them from amazon, return the wrong one and ask the seller to ship you the correct one. Did amazon say it would fit? There should be a green fitment text on amazon web site.

HI All. I just got quoted $1,600 to replace all 8 coils on my 2001 XJ8 Vanden Plas (spark plugs extra) by my (heretofore) beloved mechanic. After finding 8-coil sets for anywhere from $159 to $300 online, am I being ripped off on parts and labor by my repair guy? I never try to play gotcha with him but this kinda feels that way. He's never been the cheapest nor the most expensive, but this seems like a ripoff. Thoughts anyone?
