I love how everything is always perfectly drawn, doesn't matter the franchise or complexity; the Pokemons on the Nuzlocks, the stages on the Mario Kaizo video, even those weird and overwhelmingly complicated-looking creatures on Amazing Island. As someone else who bought this game and played it as an adult, I can tell you that it isn't your fault that that water slide game is hard. I restarted the whole game, made my monster to be specifically good at that mini game according to the associated stats, and still couldn't even get close. The flicking portion is just not well coded. Never made it past that point, just put it back in the case and let it collect dust

I tried playing this game on an emulator once. Couldn’t get past the first set of trials because Waterskip Slider required me to mash the button faster than I was physically capable of doing *while* managing every other thing you need to do in that minigame. Emulators are impossible to get timing right in, they’re always slightly slower than the real game/console so your button presses and visuals will never line up. I don’t think you could play this on an emulator. The button mash is super hard though. There’s no game with faster button pressing.

To those who enjoy the monster drawing/creation mechanic, I'd also like to recommend Magic Pengel: The quest for color, which is the only other game that uses the exact same technology. That game is more of a pokemon-esque RPG where you create your own monsters, but I love it a lot!!

@@bruh438 Sure, but Spore gives you a library of parts to stick onto your creature. In Magic pengel, you literally draw the body, head, and each limb all by yourself! To do it, you angle the body any way you want then draw the part in 2D, which the program converts to a 3d shape. So you choose "arm", make a dot on the body to signify where the the arm stems from, draw an arm shape...or any shape really and poof, it's there and it moves like an arm. There's also options for softer parts like a tail or hair, hard parts for things like horns and you can even draw them a weapon. And they all affect how the creature battles, it's so cool to me.

Another game that is quite slept on is Oneshot. The game is amazing, the execution of 4th wall breaking is at least mindblowing, interactions with the protagonist are very touching and interactions with the game itself feel fresh. This game is the kind that is better played than watched because it becomes something personal when you finish it, well at least that is how it is for me

I remember that when I got Amazing Island, I was disappointed at the core gameplay being just minigames. To those who feel the same way, I highly recommend Graffiti Kingdom for Playstation 2, which has Amazing Island's "create your own fantastical monster" shtick except it's an action RPG where you actually get to freely control the monsters you make and use them in platforming/combat/etc. From what I remember, the monster creator has far more features/customization, as well.

As someone who owns this game and has spent many hours playing. Some of this is not your fault. Monster Size Shape Pattern and most importantly PARTS decide a monsters stats. I'm seeing your monsters and based off what parts they have you were playing this game on hard mode. I should also note that you seemed to have skimmed on unlocking parts which probably contributed a bit. Ultimately the only minigames where stats "matter" are Water Skip (Having wing parts helps here) and the Launcher Game (again Wing Parts gets you height but also Legs) The rest can be beaten with player skill alone.

Oh, I’ve actually played this one. I remember really enjoying it...up until I got stuck. I believe i got to the first Water Skip Slider, because I know it was just after I got to draw my first monster. Never finished it either, since I rented it from Blockbuster and got stuck for the whole week. It got so bad I remember starting new games again and again to play “the good parts” I could actually beat instead of spending all my free time on that one frustrating mini game. Anyway, thanks for reminding me of it.

When I was a kid I rented the game from Blockbuster because the customization looked awesome but I couldn't beat the button mashing game so that was it. Later we rented it again and my sister beat it for me but then we both got stuck at the skipping mini-game lol. Didn't really get to play through the whole thing until years later as a teenager.
