But it is a massive responsibility and the job of being a parent doesn't end when they turn 18. Like Celine Dion's heart, the parenting job will go on. Forevvverrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Thanks for this . . . I'm unfortunate in that I'm surrounded by conservative people (older men specifically) who LAMBAST me for not wanting kids and not being married. I'm turning 24 next Feb but I get told it's my highest value as woman and I better hurry before I "hit the wall". It makes me so anxious and scared even though I dont even want a relationship let alone kids right now or anytime soon. Makes me feel like if I dont have them, I've failed as a woman.

@@contrarian9999 don’t listen to them, it’s your life, not theirs, women don’t exist just to have kids and it isn’t for everyone! I'm in my 30s and very unsure about kids too but my parents believe everyone should have the opportunity to have kids, just because they enjoyed having kids so much, but I agree it's not for everyone and not everyone is good parent material. There are also a lot of financial and environmental problems in our world, so it really makes you hesitate before thinking about bringing kids into this world.

As someone who’s been married 27 years - spot on with patience! Also, one of the most priceless things you have with your spouse is shared experience. We remember being so poor we could only afford rice and beans - and you build that life together and no one else has that with you. You can’t buy it or manufacture it; it’s precious, like a second witness to your life story. Thanks for the awesome QnA!

We once were on the fence about it too, but decided not to have any We love it just being the 2 of us, we're both almost 40, and it's great to have time together to just do whatever we want to. Whenever we do want to hang out with some kids...our nieces and nephews and now some of THEIR kids do the trick. Then we can hand them right back! Enjoy the time you have together! And congrats on 11 years! 🙂

I think marriage in the first few years is rough for everyone especially if you marry young (married at 19!) As a mom of four, kids are wonderful, but also not for everyone. If you (or someone reading) don't want kids, don't feel bad. The people who have that natural want for kids will have them and those that don't shouldn't be shamed. Parenthood is not easy and if you don't want to from the beginning, it makes it that much harder. I love your channel so much! ❤️❤️ It's one of the only channels that makes me laugh throughout the whole video!

Awww. I hope he knows how special he actually is. You waited a long time to actually give your time, love, & energy to another person. The beginning of a relationship can be an awkward mess at times lol. 😂 I’ve been with my boyfriend for 5 years & he was the same way when I was working 12 hour shifts at a tourist packed bar &restaurant. (I swear people really buy the whole “fun/laid back” attitude we have to pretend as servers🤣). I got a text saying “if you’re not into me, just be honest and tell me.” 🤮 I hate how insecure ppl can be at the beginning. I think it just means they really liked us & probably really appreciate having us now. 🥺💙💙

He is special!!! I wish he was here right now to read your comment. That's more encouraging than you think to hear it's not uncommon for that adjustment to take place... especially as adults with demanding schedules. I'm such a relationship newb that I didn't know how to react at the time other than getting frustrated with him . It was a big change for me after being so independent off in my own little world.I wasn't used to all the attention or even having him around. He ended up sharing that his previous relationship ended badly after she cheated on him , so I think that lack of confidence made him sensitive. I had just had a rough year after dropping out of college due to a mental health diagnosis so we both had some healing to do at the start. It is difficult to hear " just tell me if you don't like me" because you know in your heart that you care about them and wouldn't intentionally hurt them.

Finally, someone said it. I am honestly shocked some people in the comments are encouraging them to do it, it couldn't be more obvious it isn't for them. Fear of pregnancy, fear of childbirth, conflicted feelings about raising kids, enjoy their alone time, already feel like nothing's missing. I wish society was more accepting of couples/people who don't want children instead of lying to them by saying 'it's different when it's your own!'

I'm in my 30s and I'm seeing many of my friends and acquaintances regretting kids and their marriages have become extremely toxic. Very sad to see.

@@Driveontheroad it IS different with your own, that’s not people being jerks it’s something most parents will tell you because it’s true, but they romanticize it too much. The difference is oxytocin-fueled bond that tricks you into thinking it’s all worth it so we don’t go extinct. 🤣 (mommy is joking if my kids ever see this) (And I agree with you ladies if that’s not clear, I just don’t think people saying it’s different mean to be overbearing, it’s just a common parent experience to notice the difference)

@@indigocrayon520 it’s a cruel irony that our childbearing years line up so perfectly with our “still figuring out who we are” years. Makes for one fast moving target to hit if you want to find the right human to breed with!

I loved watching this. Me and my husband have been married 12yrs and together 15. When people ask me how we have made it so long(so sad to think that’s long), the first words out of my mouth are always if you can make it through the first 5yrs you can make it forever. Now we are so much in sync that our marriage just flows. (Also we found out I was pregnant with our first kid only 3 months after we moved in together.) I love you Jamie and your videos like that this. Keep on, keeping on!! 😍♥️😍

Jamie I just wanted to tell you I was 100% the same about pregnancy. It really struck a chord when you said that. I was terrified, anxious, and had major OCD. It was not easy but I survived and my little guy is sitting next to me right now. If it does get into your heart that you'd like a child... find the right team of people to surround yourself with. I hope you feel confident no matter which path fits your life, just know you are NOT alone in those feelings and they don't speak to your ability.

There’s only one thing that worries me about my relationship with my boyfriend and it’s that he thinks he might want kids and I 100% do not. We recently talked about it and I told him I love him but I need him to figure out if that’s something he needs in his life to be happy because that’s the one thing I just can’t give him. Thinking about it has caused me a lot of anxiety, but hearing you two talking about it so candidly and still being unsure after many years together made me feel better. Thank you.

We got married early in our 20's and went thru that whole having only $10 to our name after everything. But I really didn't really want to ask why he had a scar on his head and it be like a big offensive kinda thing. I love the channel. Keep it up ❤
