Jaisalmer City Guide | Exploring India's desert city

Today we are exploring the golden desert city of Jaisalmer. Which is, unfortunately, our final stop in India before heading back to Delhi to fly to Australia.
We start our day off by watching the sunrise over the Gadisar Lake before exploring the Jaisalmer Fort. As we were visiting Jaisalmer at the end of March we decided to do most of our exploring in the morning to try and beat the sweltering heat! By 10.30am it was 36 degrees!
To finish our day off we try some traditional Rajasthani street food before heading to dinner to watch the sunset over the fort.

Dang Jaisalmer city looks incredible. Looks like a scene from a fairy tale and also the lake sunrise just ads to that image. Pani puri/gol gappe should be eaten immediately upon being served. Otherwise the puri, the round crunchy shell, gets soggy and all of the tasty fluid leaks out. That's why people stand right there as he serves them up one puri at a time. In the hand, in the mouth, crunch, hold out bowl for the next one as you chew, into the mouth, and repeat. He'll keep track of how many you've had. Then, you drink up all of the left over fluids and sauces in the bowl. A great source for all sorts of nutrients, flavors, and proteins, and carbs, along with hydrating fluids containing sugars and salts ant other minerals necessary to keep a body going on a hot sweaty day. And they taste damned good! :)

Next time you are on India please visit hill stations like Dharamsala, Spiti Valley, Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) : Mussoorie, Nainital (Uttarakhand) ; Gangtok, Lachung, Pelling (Sikkim) .
