Johnny Bush was one of his mentors. I can remember going to see Johnny way back in the early 70s. Saw Jake Hooker a couple of weeks ago at Anhalt Hall in Branch,Tx. This guy is awesome. Wife and I had one of the best times since High School also way back in the early 70s

I can hear Johnny Bush in Hookers music, very nice!.. Just saw Emmylou Harris and R Crowell in Charlotte NC do a blistering version of Roger Millers "Invitation to the blues". what a lovely April fools treat...

He must have listened to a lot of Johnny Bush songs while creating his own style. I will listen to anyone that reminds me of Johnny Bush. By the way......IMHO Jake Hooker is a very good singer...a natural talent.

I know you've got to have a fiddle in the band, but you better have an upright bass if it's going to sound like the real deal! Go Jake!

Nashville is lost it way in the real country music business I look for the place to shut it's door's They have gone to this pop stuff and the next thing will br rap for the inap...Even nashville radio has lost out with the good music ..

Great song. Just a little too much vibrato for my liking.
@patricksaxon39834 жыл бұрын
I just do not understand why he sings it with so much vibrato in his voice, country singers don't sing like that any more as that was popular in the 60s when western swing was popular.

i believe the posters statement, new country is crap, country should be just that, not pop, the new generation dosn't know diddly about music, yet its what music is becoming
