Precisely because of the wind problem, I switched from the mini drones to the Air3 and for me this now represents a great compromise between weight and wind stability. I already have a few videos on my channel and I am VERY satisfied with the image quality.

For this very reason I choose air 3. It's massive in the sky. In quite big wind not even bothers me with wind messages. Now with split filter no problem adjusting the cameras.

how much better would you say the natural imagery is with the Mini 4 compared to the Mini 3 pro? because I just bought the Mini 3 pro for $900 not but 3 months ago and I am so disappointed just from not having waypoints other than with hyperlapse

on top of that, the biggest thing about the Mini 3 pro was the 1.7 fixed aperture gave it such good low light camera footage and then they go add a night mode to the Mini 4. why could they not upgrade the firmware on the Mini 3 pro and give it way points and a night mode. I really feel like they are being cheap and really not sticking up for the people who got stuck with the DJI Mini 3 pro. I have been horribly upset since I bought it. The air 3s came out literally a month later smh

I just upgraded to DJI Mini 4 pro + RC 2 from DJI Air2S with RC PRO, I feel very comfortable flying over water with the constant coastal wind with my new drone, I agreed with the video movement in high wind, but the drone can handle it for flight. You forgot to mention Ocusync 4, this is another important point in favor of the Mini 4 Pro, that was my main reason for trading my DJI RC PRO, compatibility with new drones. For hiking and travel DJI Mini 4 and for overland with my Ford Bronco Badlands, soon Mavic 4 (I hope) sharing the same RC 2 control.

Good question@@tylersnelling. In terms of sensor size really, it is a downgrade but the D-Log M and the night mode of the Mini 4 pro is an upgrade. I have mixed feelings, but focus in my use cases, landscaping in mostly sunny days and a few sunset videos, I think the mini 4 pro wins in the comparison without mentioning portability. The most important factor in my analysis

Outstanding. Omni directional OA and the extra control for movement and near-ground flight, Landing light, Waypoints, and .1 meter positional accuracy vs. .3 meter on Mini 3 Pro- a huge spec increase that is my #1 reason to upgrade. Getting 92% back selling Mini 3 Pro, total upgrade cost was $115. Mini 4 Pro is much better at positional accuracy, precision landing 👏 Waypoint flight is the only way to zoom, tilt gimbal in micro movements over long distances & time.

I just upgraded from mini 3 pro, but noticed it not that stable in air compare to old mini 3 pro. And at night, when visual sensors are not working, in often oscillate instead of holding position. Again, with low light it has tendency for yaw drift, that ruined some my hyperlapses. I don't know is it only my unit, or problem with whole series.

Most software should be able to handle the extra jitter from the wind in post no? Da vinci has a function to stabilize footage for instance

It’s not jitter it’s movement so stabilizing in post might help a little but the whole frame is moving so it will introduce strange artifacts as well

Here lately I have become a big fan of AEB and wondered what your thoughts are on that feature. I like a more saturated look but I realize that isn't for everyone. I have used it on my Mini 2 and Air 2S and I find that the software that I put it through does a pretty good job of hitting the sweet spot that I like from a visual perspective and I don't have to edit the photo much or at all. I would love to hear your photographer knowledge about it and if you use it or prefer the flat profile that probably gives you a lot more options from a grading perspective. I am not that well versed yet in grading and not really a 'camera' guy but I am learning. Nice stuff though. Always love watching your vids.

The maximum wind gust speed I have flown my Mini 2 in is 36mph. I really wanted a shot and it was a little dicy coming in to land but it handled well! The Mini 4 has the same rating as the Mini 2.

Hey Jake. I first saw you on one of Ken Herons videos. I first got my mini 4 pro and thought it was a toy compared to my Air 2S. One will notice immediately that the wind will make it dance. Tried to do some hyperlapse, which would have been much better with the Air 2S for stability. However, it does shoot well in dark conditions, as you stated. That short film of the "moonshine" is on my channel. It would not take off in the dark. I had to put into a brighter environment to start the flight. Maybe I was just doing something wrong. Anyway, great explanation of the product and its downside. Still, it has many great features, which you mentioned. Excellent and fair review.

My mini 4 pro dropped out of the sky a couple of days ago. I was zoomed in on some buildings doing a orbit and turned to vertical mode and boom! falls out the sky. On its way back to Dji so see what they say. Saying that I cant wait to get a replacement and I am super impressed with it.

Air 2S with the DJI RC owner here. I really want to jump to the Occusync 4 and the new RC2. Just not sure what to do about going to the Air 3 vs the Mini 4 Pro. The Air 3 is a large jump in air frame size. But that 70 mm is oh so sweet. The Mini 4 Pro is so small and packable. The tracking and low light is so good on the Mini 4 Pro. But I am struggling with giving up the 1-inch sensor and that in between air frame. I really want someone to do an Air 2S/Air 3/Mini 4 Pro video. So many decisions.

Great video! Helpful. I have a question on how to set up a shot (whether it can be done using waypoints). I will be falling a very large tree killed in a fire. The trees around it on two sides are still green and won't be coming down. I will have my insta360 and another 4k video camera on the ground. I'd like my mini4 pro to be up near the top of the dead tree, but off to the side of the fall path to capture the entire fall. I have done two previous trees with the drone just fixed in place. What I'd like to do is have the drone slowly moving back and forth on a short path, so I can grab some panning shots out of the total clip. Having shot two previous tree falls, the total time needed to safely fall the tree from first cut to tree on the ground is 15-18 minutes. (I'm doing this solo, so no one to assist) Is there a way I can set the mini4 pro to do a 15-20 foot path slowly back and forth?

For that I would just use point of interest mode as way points only runs the route once and then you must tell the drone to start again

Bought the DJI mini 4 pro coming from an DJI Mavic 2 pro and must say ist a huge downgrade. I did expect it was a downgrade but the total quality impression did fell when i revived the drone. The DJI RC2 controller felt light and cheap as same as the Mini 4 Pro. To be honest it felt like an overpriced piece of plastic. Not sure if I want to keep it or I should go for the Air instead.
