The only really good things that the fascist did for Sicily was to fight mafia, the regime fought mafia very hard because Mussolini didn't accept that there was a different power than his dictature and from 1922 many mafiosi were executed, so the other escaped and went mostly to USA.... After the war, many of them came back to Sicily to their town and regained power, in some cases they even became mayor from their town... We Sicilian have long suffered because of this compromise... too much people in our island were killed, fortunately in the last 20 years the situation has quiet improved in term of violence, but the level of corruption is unchanged
