Thanks for your review on the Uno synth pro, great explanations and demo of its capabilities and definitely some great sounds possible from this synth. I have a possibility of buying a used one in the UK for £50!!! After watching your video and hearing your thoughts on it, it’s a no brainier really I’ll buy it at such a low price and even if I don’t like it or don’t use it much I’m sure I could always sell it for a higher price than I move paid for it, I’m sure I’ll line using it and it’ll benefit my setup. What bugs did you encounter with it? I discovered there is a problem with the lfo retrigger being not saved per patch and rather get used as a global setting and the linked cutoff not saving properly - this is stuff that should easily be fixed

Brilliant video..if you want a uno synth pro now is the time to buy one..if you buy one and register it with IK you then get 3 products free! So you can get track 5 ,sampletank 4,syntronik 2…etc for free..it’s a no brainier

Great video my friend. But, a question , please: the Brass Pad which enter at 2.45, it's an direct internal preset of UNO Synth? No effect or other gear added?

That preset is something I tweaked myself from an existing one that I don’t remember the name of (I checked my notes and I haven’t written anything about it either sorry). There’s nothing really done to the audio, pretty much cleanly recorded straight into my iPad.

Nice to see how it works with the iPad setup ( just purchased a 6th gen rather cheap!) but I think I'll start with something cheaper like the first UNO or Modal Skulpt. Sounds great though!

I have a bass sound I use from Agonizer (Keytaristic) run through Nembrini Audios Blackice Beta Gamma bass amp plugin that sounds similar to the bass sound you are using here. It’s got a nice bite and is rather menacing!

Your channel is amazing. Thank You. I come from Win and Reaper and I'm hardware synth oriented with some additional apps when is required. So Cubais and Ipad is something new to me. It wouild be great to make a video of your workflow with hardware on Cubasis. Like sysex, cc programm change into midi track, how to time strech a midi track Are you recording both midi and audio in the same time? Or are you boucing, or routing etc etc... Thank You

@Jakob Haq im a bit curious about . at the end of the day do you get the same quality (for synthwave producing) out from cubasis as with a desktop ? . I mean they have plugins like waves , there are things like fabfilter pro q3 and the ipad is getting more powerful with the new m1 chip

It’s an interesting topic but mostly because the perception of what “quality” is always differ between people. What is quality for you? What do you mean exactly? . If we’re talking audio quality then that’s always going to be set through a sound interface. The quality of the interface will be set by the price (most of the time). . I’ve done tests with Friends over here where I’ve played them a few tracks, and then asked them to tell me what the songs was produced with. They always get it wrong. They often have this mindset of the iPad being “toy like”. But they’re never able to identify the iPad track. . I live by “it’s not what you have, it’s how you use it”. . See I’ve heard incredible stuff made on pocket operators, say PO-33 (sampler). Most people don’t know that those devices only give you 22KHz at 8-bit Ulaw. That’s pretty low right? Yet stuff sound good on it. . Or how about mixing engineers making stuff sound like it was made in the 50’s even though they’re using a $100’000 studio? . For me personally I feel that many times the focus is on details that most of us won’t even care about when actually consuming music. . That’s just my five cents. In the end, what do you think about the track I made, does it sound like as if it was produced on a toy? 😘 I’ve had so many producers tell me I’m playing with toys in the past, and hey, that’s okay. There’s a lot of good music out there being made with toys. . Jokes aside. In the end it’s more about learning to use the stuff you have to make stuff that sounds as “good” as possible. Focus on what you want to make and then try to find the most fun and effective ways of doing that. 👍🏼 . The biggest difference between Desktop and iOS is processing power and that a lot of iOS daws do not offer as many features as desktop DAWS do. I don’t attribute this to the “quality” topic discussion though. . The iPad is still somewhat limited but as you mentioned the M1 ... yeah it’s a game changer. I still think it’ll be a few years before the platform catches up. I think we’d have to see something like Logic being ported to iOS etc.

I missed out on that Novation Audio Hub. Any idea what’s closest to it on the market these days? I’m already doing too much cable swapping with my Scarlet 1820, and wouldn’t mind getting something portable and flexible like that for smaller setups, my iPad and so on.

As far as I know IK multimedia has not made an iOS editor for the UNO synth Pro. The UNO editor available for iOS is only compatible with the original UNO synth. Unfortunately you’ll have to use the desktop version made for the pro.

Excellent review as always, but I do think that all these uno sounds can be reproduced by AU available instruments Any sonic differences between analog and digital would be lost in the final mix anyway Personally I’ll stick to software 😏
