There is even physical proof in the show that Eustace is angry because of his depression. In the episode where sadness cannonballs are being fired out of a tower. It was shown that when you got hit with One of those cannonballs, you would become incredibly depressed. And yet when Eustace gets hit by one of them, nothing happens to him. That implies that Eustace is already so depressed that the cannonball cannot make him become more depressed.

The Eustace theory actually makes sense. It has been theorized that the reason Eustace hates Courage so much is due to jealousy. That Eustace was very loving toward Muriel before she found Courage. Eustace has childhood trauma, mommy issues, abandonment issues and likely many insecurities and struggles from feelings of inadequacy due to parental favoritism of his brother. Muriel was likely the one and only person in his life who made him feel loved and happy and then he suddenly had to share that attention with Courage (who Muriel seems to favor over him, which likely triggered his childhood trauma and aforementioned feelings to surface again) it would make sense if he was the one hiring these "bad guys" to try and "get rid of" Courage, because he does exactly that in the dodgeball episode. His suffering at their hands may be his way of appearing to be the victim rather than being suspected of any wrong doing, to gain sympathy from Muriel as well as to not make himself look bad if the villain happens to succeed. He wants Muriels love and attention to be solely on him, so if she found out _he_ was the one behind it, he would lose the last good thing in his life. She would never forgive him.

Also an Ed Edd n' Eddy video would be awesome, I don't believe the afterlife theory is canon or even makes that much sense but I adore it anyway and like hearing about it every time. Also what's under Double D's hat would realistically be like really matted hair from having a sensory thing about getting his hair brushed or cut but in canon it'd probably be something wackier than that. Anyway this is a late comment but if you see it you should do that vid if you have enough inspiration.

The reason why stuff keeps happening to Courage and the Baggs is, despite the farm seemingly being on a worthless land, that the area is the place is the land equivalent Bermuda Triangle or Devil's Triangle. However, instead of vehicles and people mysteriously vanishing, it has a supernatural strong pull of anything unnatural due to too many people placing curses and other magic on the property. Or, Courage has the worst luck when it comes to things staying peaceful. You could dismiss away Eustace being alive after episodes where he shouldn't come back properly due to his brother, who was archeologist, found something that would make Eustace immortal yet give bad luck where something bad usually happens, which may explain why he always seems to be annoyed or angry.

I've always thought that courage isn't really a dog at all, but the Bagge's real son/adopted son. He pretends to be a dog because he doesn't like being a person. Eustace physically and mentally abuses him, and Murial is hard of hearing and misses alot of the abuse. Alot of people try to scam his parents out of their money/farm and Courage tries to protect his family with all he has. That would make all of the episodes much darker, having them be from the twisted imagination of an abused child. Anyways, that's just something I've always imagined since I was a little scared kid.

Maybe he’s looking for a dimension where everything is fine, but he fails over and over, that’s why he ‘s more conscious about things like Eustass’ deaths and all the weird stuff happening in general, not only cause he’s a young dog (not like his owners 💀) but also cause he’s a dimension traveller. This might see very wack but I’m just throwing whatever my mind can muster about this silly show. Anyways thanks for another great video moth!!

I was always up for the "dog perspective theory". It just feels right and fitting, would also explain the family dynamic with Muriel beeing the one who feeds and pets the dog so she's the innocence incarnated and Eustace is the one trying to treat him like an animal (classic "dad didn't want a dog") so he's the monster, evil dude. I know it's not much of a theory but a stated fact in show but Eustace was abused by his family and that might be why he's the way he is. And Muriel beeing kind and loving was probably the first and only person who showed him some love that's why she's the only person HE loves. Which is cute but also sad. He's about money because that's what his family was fixated on and deemed him a failure for not having... I also think that maybe hios brother cursed him in some way. For example, he got cursed in one of his adventures, but when he died the curse went on to the next of kin - his brother? Just an idea.

Thoughts on the Eustice theory: What if Eustice has always been a medium, using the power of "evil beings" to torment those around him, including his little brother? This could explain why his brother despised him and chose to become an archaeologist-to secretly study ancient artifacts in the hope of finding a way to retaliate against Eustice. Unfortunately, his brother died in the process. With no one left to torment, Eustice moved to the middle of nowhere, where he unexpectedly met Muriel. Although he found her to be the one person he didn't want to fully torment, she insisted on getting a dog. Eustice hated the idea but realized having a dog would give him something new to torture. As they went through life together, Eustice maintained a stoic demeanor in front of Muriel while obsessively plotting new ways to torment Courage daily, in a manner similar to a "Phineas and Ferb" style dynamic, where every day presents a new scheme. **Plot twist:** The “beings” that occasionally torment Eustice and Muriel are actually sent by Eustice’s younger brother from beyond the grave as part of a secret revenge subplot.

The Cerberus Theory could work if it wasn't trying to mix Greek mythology with a Christian lens. - Hades isn't Satan, he's simply a stern and uncaring warden, and also a god of wealth. In the show, Eustace is shown to be an uncaring and callous man, obsessed with acquiring wealth. - The Underworld isn't Hell, it's simply a dismal, bleak, and empty place, with nothing in it but the souls of the dead. Which fits the wasteland seen in the show. - Persephone is a goddess of agriculture that is attentive and caring, unlike Hades, so she balances out Hades's personality. Which fits Muriel's role in the show in relation to Eustace, their conflicting personalities are just like those of Hades and Persephone. - Cerberus is not some evil monster, he's just a good boy whose job is to ensure that the dead don't return to the land of the living. This fits Courage, as he constantly deals with people that are driven by earthly desires (greed, revenge, gluttony, rage, lust, etc). This fits the desires of the souls of the dead in Greek mythology, as in the Underworld there is no way to satisfy such earthly wants, so they are left forever craving them. Also, Cerberus means "spotted one" and Courage is a spotted dog.

@roberthosford1658 Sophia the first is its own seperate show existing in its own universe. This was a Courage special that happened to contain Scooby Doo. It's more like saying the Scooby Doo crossover with Johnny Bravo is cannon to Johnny Bravo or the Wrestlemana stuff is cannon to that version of Scooby in that Scooby universe. I do feel you are kind of right in that, yes, in the Sofia the First Universe she did cannonically interact with the Disney princesses. Did they Disney princesses interact with her in their movie or show Universe's? Possibly but not confirmed. This was a Vourage special with nothing indicating it was a separate continuity from the show. I don't feel it's nessisarily a two way street. I don't feel Courage or what happened in that special is cannon in any Scooby Universe because the world doesn't fit any of them. The world shown in the special is Courage's world as a Courage special. It also seems pretty stupid to think the reaosn for all the crazy stuff in this show is as grounded an expalination as they were after Eustaces Brothers money. There are so many plotholes to that and it doesn't fit the shows atmosphere. They clearly made the special in the same vein as the show and as a last hoorah for the property. Not only was it the voice actress for Muriel's last performance so it's unlikely we'll get anything more in the OG continuity out if respect for her, but they kept it consostant with the show lore despute being made so long after the show ended. I think you are just being argumentative and contrarian gor the sake of it. The special was made by the origional creators. You don't have to like it but it exists. Deal with it.

I always heard the Cerberus theory different; basically the way I heard it, Eustace is Hades, not the Devil, Nowhere is like the gateway between our world and the underworld, and Muriel is the representation of humanity. So the reason why Eustace hates Courage in this theory, is that it's Courage's job to keep the supernatural beings (in this case, demons or evil spirits) from reaching and harming Muriel, and his cowardice gets in the way. I always saw this theory, and the dog's perspective one, less as a "THIS THEORY TOTALLY PROVES THIS SHOW IS SECRETLY ABOUT THIS" theory, and more like a sort of neat way to view the show without necessarily having to be true.

Courage is a member of the Bagge family, but just call him Courage. It's weird to add the family name to his. It's like the crappy Powerpuff Girls 2016 having "Blossom" call itself "Blossom Powerpuff" or calling them Utonium.

I like Eustace Theory. I think "Courage is just a normal dog, the cartoon is just how he _perceives_ strangers as scary" is one of the lamest theories, just like all the various coma/coping with trauma/kids are just pretending to have secret laboratories theories for other cartoons. This is called "Doing In the Wizard", robbing whimsical fantasy stories of their fantastical elements by trying to explain them away.

2:10 No I actually prefer to think over cartoon theories over long period of time, even at work. Until I decide to think about something. But you a theory needs to evidence within a show itself to prove that this could be true. Like subliminal messages in media, you know?

In the episode '1000 Years of Courage', Muriel says "I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. Or the present time. Or some combination of the two." Aside from being an obvious reference to The Wizard of Oz, I'm pretty sure she was being sincere I also recall the in the satellite episode when the General asks where it's coming down and the soldier points to the screen and says "Nowhere, Kansas"

So which version of Scooby and the Gang did courage meet since he met one and they always meet Batman and their universe always flavored differently. The most recent being a Batman the Animated series adjacent universe or the Brave and the Bold who is whimsically weird.

Respective explains everything you think it doesn't explain. Are they being tied up, No hes a dog hes over protective and thinks they are. The Bags never seem worried, yeah because there is nothing to be afraid off Courage is just over protective. Why are some people monsters and some normal, because Courage is a dog and they act the exact same way. It really dose explain everything.

The lamest theories are the coma/dream/dead/purgatory/imagination ones. Just, accept it's a weird show, fictional worlds can be unlike ours, that's kinda the point.
