Disagree on this one, fighters will seek out people who previously fought their opponents all the time, fighters will even train with people they previously compete against if they are certain they will not fight each other gain (when one of the two changes weight classes or promotions, for example Henry Cejudo and Demetrious Johnson), it is one of the best things you can do to have a indepth perspective of your opponent fighting style or your own fighting style during a real fight, it is not scummy, just part of the game

I feel the best thing a champion or former champion should do is maintain humility. Too many fighters these days gain a level of arrogance when they get the belt and then they end up refusing to accept a loss. Sean Strickland did the same thing as far as refusing his loss to Duplesis but unlike Jamahal he hasn't irritated the majority regardless of his outside antics. Jamahal tends to take too many things as a personal attack. Everyone's not a hater just because they feel he lost that fight fair and square. Some people have to realize you can't challenge the world because of criticism and scrutiny especially when your career is public.
