I was there! Tenth row center at the Jones Beach amphitheater. Here's a little story: In those days, the theater had a flat floor in the orchestra section. I remember security was very strict and wouldn't let us stand. They didn't want us to block anyone's view. It was so frustrating to us and surely to Whitney. We looked like the lamest audience ever. By the time Whitney got to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" we were DYING to get up and dance, but security kept yelling at us. Whitney didn't know what was going on and was signaling us to get up. Finally, the audience rebelled and we ALL got up - WAY UP - many of us on top of our seats. We didn't care if we'd be arrested! I was seven feet in the air. It was a great moment and Whitney got it and was thrilled. What a great memory and I am so happy I got to see her at the beginning of her amazing career. :)

Nice story, but mustve been a different concert, cause she didn't sing IWDWS here, she hadn't even released that album, right?
@dedee72886 жыл бұрын
billiswilling Whitney did sing Dance with Somebody at this show. Dance with Somebody and Didn't We Almost Have It All was recorded already. Those 2 songs she premiered during this tour ignited buzz for soon to be release of her second album. Those two songs shot to no. 1 quick in 1987

I was at this concert and it was the night I fell in love with Whitney Houston and became a lifelong fan of hers ❤️ I was working at the time as an usher at the theatre . Needless to say that I wasn’t a very good usher that night ! It was because I literally was memorized by her voice , as well as her physical beauty and stage presence . I never saw anyone like this beautiful songbird before . Her range was the 8th wonder of the world ... she could do anything with her voice ... she did gorgeous ballads showcasing her soft beautiful and angelic tones ...and dance songs where she had everyone on their feet ... dancing and having fun and cheering her on ... To this day , I will never forget the sheer power of her voice that I experienced that night ... I remember saying to myself this girl’s voice is so powerful and strong that she doesn’t even need a microphone ! This night truly was unforgettable. Her voice touched me in a way like no one else’s ever did before ( or since then )..and I was privileged to see Whitney in concert 14 more times over the years . She truly was “the voice” ... her talent is unmatchable . There will never be another Whitney Houston in my lifetime . Music had not been the same for me since Whitney left us ... I miss her and I will always love her ❤️

a young 23 years old whitney houston,what a treat that was for the people who were there to witness history been made,i wish i was one of those folks.but i did saw her perform live in concert in 1992 at the providence civic center that i will never forget.whitney houston remake of an artist song,she always sang it better than the original artist.mihara carey could not hold a candle to whitney houston when it comes to singing a song,mihara carey would slurged the words when singing the song at a high tempo,but when whitney sings at a high tempo you can hear all the words that she is singing.whitney houston i wish you could be hear alive on this earth singing beautiful songs like you did when you were alive.but thanks for the memories,gone too soon.R.I.P.WHITNEY.

I bet nobody even noticed what she does at around 10:28 is just the hardest thing ever technically, starting in chest voice, then diminishing the volume to the maximum and switching without any breaks into light head voice, all in the same word, without any breaks. She also did that in ''A quiet place'', that's so impressive.

Here's Another Rare Gem Artista Slept on.From Her Very First Solo Tour Back in 1986.Her Version of I Am Changing is Prue Legend and she wasn't even at her peak.In My Opinion her Live Work would have Sold way more than her albums and should've been released a longtime ago.Her people have MAJOR work to do.
