He did a crazy job capturing Brown in his character considering he was already gone, one of the best bio pic performances for sure. The only draw back in the film was the make-up used to make him look older.

Welcome to the NBA! My dad stood next to Mr. Brown in the wings of a stage at Jackson State College (before it was JSU). Mr. Aykroyd produced this, and I heard he paid for some new vehicles for the Hinds County Sheriff department when this was filmed in Jackson. I got to see Mr. Brown 7 months before he died. Still moving, grooving, and leading a tight, well oiled machine of a band.

It didn't happen in the way it did. The Rolling Stones had performed much later in the day with a totally different audience but the way the program was edited, they made it look like the Stones went on directly after James! Great clip but this doesn't do James' actual performance justice, and takes away from the significance of the performance and the Stones having to follow him, the way James tore that stage up was something that hadn't been seen before and wouldn't be seen again until Michael at Motown 25, almost 20 years later.
