Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck will be, and always will be to me, my Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman. And I've seen too many fan art versions of Alan Ritchson that played hawk in the Titans TV show as The Dark Knight, which he looks very good by the way, or Jensen Ackles as a live-action version of Batman. So in all honesty James Gunn better bring out some very good names or an unknown to play as the Dark Knight and get it right because everything is going to be hanging on the line for the new Superman movie to do well.

Two projects and a truckload of tweets in, and I'm tired of James Gunn. No, it isn't a Snyder thing. Whenever anyone doesn't say glowing things about Gunn, you get the "Snyder fan detected" response. No. Nothing to do with Snyder. Strictly on what Gunn has done, so far. Both "the" Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were juvenile, unfunny (though they certainly tried), and dripping with the signature James Gunn style. Loads of D List characters being annoying to each other, and the audience, throughout the runtime. I don't want to see any more. And the new Superman is populated with D Listers, as well. Why? Because Gunn can write them any way he wants, with minimal backlash. It worked in GotG (haven't watched, but I heard they were good), so he's going to do it here. The introduction to a new Superman, and a new DCU, and we get roster of benchwarmers, probably just there to be jerks to one another, while Superman is a featured extra. Batman, which he's not slated to direct, but will have a hand in, if Superman doesn't flop, will probably be filled with every Z List character he can get away with, and make them an insufferable asshole. Chief O'Hara, Cornelius Stirk, Maps, Jack Ryder, it'll be someone that he can turn into a joke, without a large outcry. I really don't care what he says is true or false. When Superman drops, we'll see if he's full of it or not.

The production of the Superman movie is advanced, the WBD executives already know what the movie is about and they fear it's not going to be well received, that's why out of the blue "The Batman II" went from being cancelled to start preproduction and become topic of conversation online again. I have no faith whatsoever in the Gunnverse. James Gunn has proven that he can utilize D-list characters, but those characters also have no preconceived notions from general audiences. Superman has an entirely different level of expectations, and if Gunn's Superman movie is not well received by audiences, the hole that DC films have been stuck in for years will get even deeper. Frankly, I would be surprised if we ever see the completion of his proposed Phase 1.

Booster Gold is actually genius in my opinion. He was a budding professional quarterback and blew out his knee, so he came back from the future to become a celebrity in our time, not to be a hero. He even named his corporate super team the Conglomerate and they let sponsors put patches on their uniforms. For money and commercials. With the advent of social media, it actually makes a lot of sense that he would come back to this time period to become internet famous and try and set his future self up with Bitcoin investments in present day. Skeet’s is basically a live KZbin feed following him around using his future tech to look cool. He’s meant to be a douche, and the payoff ends up being that meeting Superman ends up inspiring him to actually be a better person and become a hero, and he does. You need to give this idea a chance, it’s going to be one of the better DC movies.

I came at the comic stories after the movies. So starting with the weak DCEU movies and ending up finding the old good comic stories was a nice arc that worked out for me. It was kind of the failure in wider cinema in general I went off looking for a replacement in short form entertainment. Trades & Graphic novel perfect fit time wise vs films.
