When he played Spike in Buffy, I was like 11. So, I definitely didn't recognize James until I watched Smallville for a third time. I was used to his blonde hair. But now I can't unsee him as Brainiac. 🤩

I think the success of Brainiac and all the characters in Smallville was due to the fact that everyone was “real” and the audience could relate to them and their emotions, it was and still is a very believable show🤩

Makes me wish that the live action Superman movies used more villains than just General Zod and Lex Luthor. Metallo, Parasite, and Braniac would've been so fun to see.

Hopefully we see Metallo and Parasite as side villains at least in the film next year, along with a Lex that’s good enough to rival Michael’s, which is still the best in live-action. Brainiac will probably be saved for the sequel, and he does deserve the spotlight when he’s there, but who knows maybe we get a tease of him.

James. for me, it's NOT just you were acting as Spike and Brainiac, but most of all your voice for the audiobook version of the Dresden Files series! You gave him the voice and the soul! I mean, that was the first time I found a voice so match with a story universe. So thank you, James!

That was absolutely my favorite episode of Brainiac "Homecoming". Because it was a redemption arc for Brainiac. Marsters knocked that one out of the park to say the least.

I quit watching "Buffy" and "Angel" about halfway through, but I really enjoyed James on "Smallville". I got to meet him in 2013, and he signed my Season 5 companion book. But he also misspelled "Brainiac" along with his signature, and I didn't realize it until I got home. I thought it was so funny though, that I decided to keep it that way.

Great job for sure as Brainiac, my only minor gripe which wasn't his fault btw was that the showrunners didn't shade him green or reveal the 3 prongs on his head or chest or something once it was revealed he was Brainiac. But still he's my favorite live version of Brainiac for sure 👍

Love the podcast. Hope Chloe gets more recognition as the season continues as it seems there's more attention on Lana and Lex at this point and Chloe hasn't really been mentioned much. 5x14 "Tomb," was one of my favorite episodes this season and Clark and Chloe had some wonderful moments in this episode. :)

Glad to have James on was unexpected after Buffy/Angel canceled and his performance as brainiac was impressive and surprising had too keep blending in til revealed in betraying not just Clark but too views as well👍👏 also not the end which he’ll be back soon👍

That image is from the episode homecoming. Man, that is my second favorite episode of all time. My only complaint is; Pete wasn’t in the episode and Clark didn’t interact with his former classmates enough.

I wish Snyder had made Man of Steel 2 with the Jor El hologram secretly being Brainiac using Kal's devotion to Krypton to make him a strong enough warrior to claim Earth for Brainiac. Have Lois be the only one sus about "Jor" before it's too late and have an Empire Strikes Back ending of Supes taking over Earth while Lois meets Batman setting up for Justice League vs Superman maybe make Lex a good guy vs "Warrior Superman"?

Too bad he was named Milton Fine, who was the human identity of Brainiac in the comics at one point. Anyone who knew the comics well enough wasn't fooled for a second.
