A normal crank pasta maker and roller works well, takes half the time to clean, and costs less than $20. It also will take up less space. That's the way to go if you want to make your own pasta. It doesn't need to be so complex

@@charlesharper2357 I dont use mine well the older bigger one anymore to bake bread in it, but I use it to kneed the dough as it handles a much larger amount like 1.5 kgs worth. I dont bake in it anymore as the non stick is no longer there. But sometimes when i want bread fast I get the other unit out.

@@toastedt140 This was first invented in the 1970's, (I know, I was there), to help with making egg sandwiches. As other folk have said, to fit square bread. There was also a tomato cuber for the same reason.

@Matthew Hopkins Fun, we have a rich history spanning back to the 1800's selling butter to England etc. Lurpak is our biggest butter brand for sure, but many variations can be bought here. Kærgården, Bakkedal etc.

That little "all in one" coffee maker/toaster oven/frying pan device is for people like college students and people who live in a one room apartment boarding houses who don't have access to cooking appliances. It's just a little something to get them by. All you need is a mini fridge to go with it.

My guess on the transparent plastic gadget was, that it was meant for shaking garlic cloves to remove the skin. As for cubic hard-boiled eggs, I do think they have a lot of merit in packed lunches, as several such eggs are less likely to move about and bang against stuff. However, as someone with room for a dishwashing machine, it fails on my fourth criterion of cost-benefit when I have to manually wash it after each use. Especially when I’d really want 3 of them to use in parallel, then have to wash all 3. No!

Unsolicited garlic peeling tip: Cut the root end off with a knife (big one), lay the flat of the knife on the clove, place the heel of your palm on the knife over the clove, push down forcefully with your body weight crushing the clove under the knife, the skin slips off of the crushed clove easily. Dicing the clove is optional, crushing is sufficient for most recipes.

A squished up cube egg would take up much less space in those little containers and be more aesthetically pleasing than a stack of round egg slices, since it's a square inside another square. Questionable usefulness these days, but at one point it had an actual purpose.

I didn't notice the dripping tap because I was too preoccupied with how the LED tape has been taken right to the end so casts a wedge of light onto the side of the oven. Having it stop 50mm short of the end would still light the worktop but would do so more discreetly.

You can make amazing square eggs using a pop-out silicone cube ice tray and quail's eggs. You can make LOTS of little eggs for salads, antipasto, etc that way. I get rid of unwanted fat in cooking by using a silicone basting brush.

Dried pasta is actually more authentic. Pasta was often made to store and keep for days when fresh food was not available. And dried pasta allows you to achieve the al dente texture as well as make richer sauces.
