@ValensBellator 4 жыл бұрын
You guys don’t really know anything about this particular situation, from what he earns to why he can’t afford a car when (presumably) no one else had a problem finding transportation (unless they’re all making super long commutes). We don’t know the manager, the bottom line, the overhead... He and his fellow workers seem to like the situation, so I doubt it’s particularly unfair. I’m just glad some manufacturer is actually still open in Detroit when almost anywhere else in the country (or outside of it) would make better financial sense.

the pootis flue you sound either very young or very wealthy or maybe both..so, in case you haven't heard [which it sounds like you haven't], jobs a person can actually live on are scarce in america and anything he might find closer would not pay him enough to live on..he was barely able to live on the wages he was already making. so he could *not* afford to quit at the time. it might not be as bad as it is in spain and greece, for instance, but it's still a very dire situation for americans these days...one case in point: a large percentage of wal-mart's employees cannot afford to eat or feed their families without food credits assistance [formerly known as food stamps, but now state debit cards are used]. wal-mart has a practice [like many other corporations who hire, among the 'skilled' workers, also 'unskilled' workers] of giving people hours just shy of what they'd need to qualify for benefits because the corporation does not want to pay for those benefits. even though sam walton's family are super-billionaire$ *and one of the wealthiest families on the planet.*..only the top 2% and some of the supposed 'middle class' are thriving. but many in the middle class are *not* thriving..i actually had a neighbor and the family lost their home to the bank after the business he owned collapsed because his clients could not afford his services anymore - because they also were suffering financially. even people who would qualify for jobs because they had a specific kind of education have tons of competition because of the state of the economy. and they get turned down for jobs that pay less because they are 'overqualified.' because employers fear they'll quit if another, better job opens up for them..and of course, they would quit & *do* quit so they can actually afford to live a decent life. and contrary to popular, ignorant belief, in most cases, only adults who have children can qualify for cash welfare benefits. although in some states pregnant women qualify - and if an adult has a federal disability case pending [SSDI] some states have a temporary cash benefits program the person may qualify for..and all states have a state disability program [SDI]. the details of which, are too complicated to post here re: who gets to stay on it and who can get SDI only temporarily.

I once saw a guy along the side of the road, he had a walmart vest on. I thought to myself. Walmart is a solid 15 min drive from where I was. I turned around, offered him a ride. He was probably the most thankful person I had ever met. He told me he woke up to a flat tire on his car, he was already using his spare, his phone was dead, charger stopped working the night before. I mean the worst string of bad luck... let me know that if I hadn't picked him up he would have lost his job. He told me no call no shows are cause for termination. So he was going to show up, even if 2 hrs late and possibly even fired once he got there. It never hurts to try and help someone. Like the man in the video. All it takes is for someone to notice and good things can happen... there are good people in this world....
