One of the best middleweight fights of the 1990’s. I wanted Nunn to win because I was never a fan of Toney’s trash talk. But after watching the fight at the time and many times later, I have to admit James Toney was a great fighter. Would’ve loved to have seen him fight Chris Eubanks and Nigel Benn, but sadly it never happened. I think Toney could’ve beaten them both.

Middle weight division was fire back then, Michael nunn was fleet footed very good footwork in and out side to side constantly steps off the line changes angles ,toney’s defense was incredible, nunn was setting toney up with the uppercut after he ducks down the jabs, but nunn was fighting toney at close range not using his height and reach advantage to the full extent, and not great defense ,was getting hit by them rights constantly finally koed.

@@sisophous Ya Nunn was unbeatable up to this point. Toney was definitely not the favorite, but wasn't a totally mystery.
