To the guys commenting here; yes he comes across very rude in these interviews. But how would you react, if the entire press doesn't think you've got a chance of winning a tournament, when your worst world ranking in the last 10 years or so was .... 11, I believe? And on a regular basis James does win the odd major tournament here and there. Maybe if people would actually gave him the respect he deserves, with 10 Major TV titles and 27 non-televised titles, ranked number 4 in the world, maybe you'd get a more likable person. This man is the most consistent top-level player outside of Taylor and MvG in the last decade easily.

From the old 4 important classic tournaments, the Worlds, the Matchplay, the World Grandprix and the UK Open, he won 3 of those titles in his career, one of them even in 2021 with the UK Open. He's not in-form as of right now, I give you that, but an in-form James Wade has proven, that he can beat the best of the world even if they bring their best game. His mental state is his enemy as he's diagnosed with several illnesses, which don't make it any easier for him, yet he prevails and still is a force.

@@alanaherne6278 The typical Wade performance, so ~95 average × 40/50% checkout x terrific timing, can be enough to beat every player on stage. What he played against Smith in the semi finale was pretty much that level. Only needed to decide some of the crucial moments in the fourth or fivth set for him. And the match could have went either way. And i think he would have loved to continue playing after the 5-3. Wade at least proved that he could improve upon his game at any moment if needed. A quality that every top gun is supposed to have.

I find Mardle irritating sometimes as many people do, but he is paid to give opinions, not to be a pussycat and just say how wonderful every player in the PDC is. Many top players can easily resort to using the cheap shot of saying "I've won more than he has" when Wayne says something they don't like but it's not relevant - Mardle knows and understands the game, he doesn't need to have been the best player ever to be qualified to express an informed opinion. If Wade wants to prove him wrong he needs to let his darts do the talking, not moan about it in a press conference. Wade has been consistent over the course of many, many years but his trophy count is quite small for someone who has been in and around the top ten for a very long time. Realistically he cannot expect Mardle or the rest of the darts press not to mention it, or to feel given that record that he won't miss out once again. If they are wrong, go and show them by winning it James.

Mardle, as a commentator, talks too much, covers all his predictions, and cannot distinguish key pivotal points in a game or a set like a better commentator would, but to be fair, he's better than some of the other guys who just ramble on about stats from previous games, and miss the present action happening as they speak, so stupid!!!

This is a common issue in most sports as far as my experience goes. People who are analyzing the game as a whole, tactics, technical aspects, form, etc. are, among a certain demography, not entiteld to an opinion unless they have been a "world champion" themselves. That simply makes no sense. Many of the best coaches and managers across all kind of sports haven't even had an active career themselves. To be a pundit, there are other qualities needed. Just look at formula 1. Jolyon Palmer was a mediocre/poor driver, but his sharp ability to analyze every aspect of a race or an incident is simply unprecedented. Regardless of whether one thinks Mardle is great, OK or a sinple clown, his abilities as a player is for the most part completely irrelevant to his ability to understand and analyze the game. Take Diego Maradona. A brilliant player that got all his coaching jobs because of his status and name; not based on competence or merit - far from it.

As a dart player myself sometimes you do enough to win and that's all your interested in, getting through is all the matters, how many times do we see someone have 104 ave etc.. then lose next round, things couldn't have gone much better for wade (yeah he's had a slice of luck getting a bye) he through to a semi and he hasn't even got out of 2nd gear yet, darts is also an endurance test physically and mentally. Wade doesn't get the credit he derseve he's a true Professional and he's recored speaks for its self.

Wade is a very good player, excellent finisher and identifying key moments in matches. He will win more tournaments but imo he will never win the World Championship. There are too many class players around now that score much heavier and faster therefore expending less mental energy. If these other players don’t perform then yes Wade will punish them but to rely on that happening all the way through a World Championship is highly unlikely!

As a die hard Wade fan his Career has been a rollercoaster one of highlights and regrets. Racked up majors at an early age much like Van Gerwen and was a heavy scorer but 2012 was the beginning of his decline bottling the WC Semi's and the Matchplay Final after being so close. Had to deal with his own issues and won virtually nothing until his resurgence in 2018. Won titles he had no right to win like the Masters but lost ones he should've won like the Grand slam. His finishing was good but he didn't scream 100+ averages. He's hit more 9 darters than many and was nicknamed 009 before but now he's going to be remembered for being involved in every historic 9 darter.

I think that’s 1 more than wade has managed and that’s in 20 years mardle reached all his in a 7-8 year period. I think Mardle is a decent summariser pre-match, but as a commentator he is appalling. He constantly contradicts himself and gets nigh on every prediction wrong, occasionally patting himself on the back for stating the bleeding obvious.Along with Pearson and Harrington its a desperate time to watch darts with the volume on. Its a sport that doesn't need football style commentary, especially when it's from someone like Mardle who adopts a fake voice behind the Mic.

I can't see anyone bar price giving write a run for his money unless write has a bad day at the office. Price of course will use intimidating tactics to drain whatever opponent he gets but write is the best in the world for me at the moment. She averaged more in losing than what wade did in winning, the only reason she lost, in fact she didn't even lose ya Muppet, the only reason Steve beaton WON because of his 1980s ego and mustache that wouldn't let him lose to a female. He had 3 ton plus finishes to win the 1st set from 2 nil down, ended up with a ton average while she had 96.summin. He hasn't played that well in 20 yes and lost his next match comfortably. He has and never will take someone like peter wright all the way, leg for leg 16-13 in a semi final like she has recently and people like you will only spur the girl on.
