@@PiggyPower I think the amount of oil in the engine bay on the left means it is a bit terminal, hence why I'm going to let the real mechanics sort it and not play with it myself, ignorance might be bliss but in my hands it's dangerous

Thank you for taking the time to example and guide us through your work. I have a "puma 2.2" fitted in a Citroen Relay and at the very least you've inspired me to at least inspect for play in the turbo bearings. Hopefully I won't be needing to remove the turbo (133000 miles). The engine wasn't coming on boost changing from 2nd to 3rd until it revved above 2500rpm. But then cam in strong again. Now off to find info on the EGR vale (gulp) Thanks again

That is odd. It might be a number of things, be good to look at any fault codes stored or live data, MAF v requested boost v actual. 👌🐷 I've known these turbos and engines fail way before 133k. Keep up the maintenance on it 👌

@PiggyPower

I've got these codes before from a faulty turbo VNT actuator (very common) ... To diagnose, see target position and actual position on live data or a GoPro under the hood looking at the actuator as you drive 👍 if it is working and still getting those faults and there are no boost leaks ... investigate the turbo itself

Any reason you are not suggesting to send the turbo for reconditioning/rebuild? Way cheaper than brand new turbo from Ford. First class video though! We need one showing DPF removal next 😊
@PiggyPower
@PiggyPower 11 ай бұрын
I used a "rebuilt" turbo in this video as it happens. It failed within a couple hundred miles. The claim went on for months. Sent the turbo back etc etc they claimed this and that, basically they use cheap nasty bearings and don't build them properly and have such stupid wording in their warranty which essentially means they can decide to pay or not. Which I believe they never ever have. It was 60% of the price of a new one. But was a waste of money and took a day of my unpaid time. Plus hours afterward dealing with the scumbag "pro" rebuild company. Buy once. Forget.

Is the turbo the same model that’s fitted to the 2.0 hdi /tdci? I only ask as I know there’s some “hybrid” turbos available for the 2.2 engine for fitting to things like the 2.2 diesel mondeo st for those chasing more performance. Should they be the same part I might have an upgrade option to upgrade my 2.0 hdi.

@@PiggyPower it has been messed with by a previous owner but I can’t confirm current state of tune. So it’s pure conjecture from me atm. I intend to upgrade the intercooler as the current one is past best - can’t see any point of a straight replacement when a couple of days work and an extra £50 gets me something better and hopefully deals with the heat soak over long journeys. Having a better turbo option seems like a good idea, if everything else is in place then a trip to the rolling road for a remap isn’t too far of a stretch…
