For those wondering about the differences between this and the original: • There are now save points, whereas in the original you effectively had 9 lives (3 lives and 2 continues, where continues were just a new set of lives) and no way to save progress at all. • There's lots of new upgrades for your vehicle not in the original. Mostly new weapons. There are also new subweapons to use in the overhead view areas. • Updated controls let you do things like aim your turret diagonally with the press of a button, and force aiming in a single direction in the overhead view areas. • Maps can now be obtained, showing you where everything is. • Lots of new bosses were added in the overhead view areas. • There's now an actual story during gameplay - lots of dialogs with Eve, a "new" character (she was actually invented for, of all things, a children's novel based on the game!), including optional dialogs during the pause screen, that add a lot of backstory. There's even cutscenes. • The story was totally rewritten to both make more sense, and to unify the original Japanese and US versions of the old Blaster Master (they had different stories) and the American children's novel based on the original game! • There's a secret ending obtainable by getting all upgrades and killing all optional bosses. This secret ending ends with a tough boss fight, and plays up the drama, storywise. • The music is totally different. Only Area 1 has music similar to the original; for better or worse, all the songs are different. I like the original game's soundtrack, but I like this one also. But they have very different feels to them. • The game is overall much easier than the original, which was super hard. The easiness mostly comes from these upgrades. • Level design is, I'd say, maybe 80% identical to the original game, 20% different? It's very similar but they added new stuff as well and remixed stuff. Those are all the differences I can think of.

wait, whoa whoa...you do NOT have to scan every enemy in Metroid Prime. The bosses you do on occasion, generally ONCE to find weaknesses and such, and it's a total of 3-5 seconds. Just a note: players were able to hold down the A button (grenade) and lock their direction in the original NES Blaster Master (when in the on-foot dungeons, that is). So that isn't really anything new, just not as well-known, I guess. Also, the original Blaster Master had pistol upgrades that weakened every time Jason got hit, but I will say that being able to voluntarily choose an upgrade is nice. If I ever pick up a Switch, I might have to pick this game up. Big fan of the original NES game, so this would be a fresh new look on it.

19:08, it's actually a little deeper. In this game, Jason wants Fred back because he (Jason) believes that Fred might hold the key to making the surface hospitable again, and he's not about to let a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity slip away. However, he ends up finding that Fred carries a huge secret with him. And that secret is connected to the girl at 18:10. Also, he ended up finding something that he could call a companion in Fred after finding him in the wild, as he didn't really grow up with friends or family in this continuity.

I'd call it nostalgia pouncing, but in this case it's great nostalgia pouncing. Inti Creates is interesting. As in "how did they get so involved?" interesting. Gunvolt, a series inspired by Megaman. Bloodstained, an actual Castlevania spiritual successor. Dragon Marked for Death, an RPG with cooperative platformer elements. Blaster Master Zero; need I say more? And this game offers up DLC where you can play as Shantae, Shovel Knight, Gunvolt and Ekoro. If the quality of their games is anything to go by, Inti seems pretty passionate about their IPs.

What they did with this game, they took 2 names and a frog from Blaster Master. But then everything else about the plot came from the Japanese version (Chou Wakusei Senki Metafight). And even the main character and the frog were completely re-framed in the context of the original Metafight plot. "Jason" was a soldier named "Kane Gardner" in the original version, and he was a soldier fighting an alien invasion. In this version, he has the name Jason, but everything else about him is basically Kane under a different name. And the frog is an alien. So it's for the most part a remake of Metafight, with a couple of VERY minor elements of the US translation thrown in.

The power off to kids was a common excuse to make sure that kids did not 'save, then try to play more' while at the same time parents having no desire to also have to watch what they play. I see no problem with leaving power plugged in while you are present as long as you do check if they warm up while not running. But if you have loads of stuff with transformers (pretty much 100% of consoles) then they DO keep on using power while the machines are not on. For that reason, have a main switch that can fysically cut power to everything plugged in.
