@messiahmindset2964 ah, the joys of knowing your local frost dates and climate zone. It took a while, knowing how many days God gave me between frosts, what the idiosynchraties of my area are, and reading a lot of seed packets. Just think. You can make your own food lists and your own monthly recipes. Lots of salads in spring, tomato and cucumber recipes in late summer, and root vegetable in fall. Borscht, anyone?

Love the little Tuckster!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤ I am so happy to see Tuck eating organically! Crops to grow!: 1. Cucumbers - Socrates, the more you pick, the more they grow 2. Green Beans - Dragon Tongue Bean, 60 days seed to harvest, diced leaf mulch, 3. Summer Quash - Zucchini, Patty Pan Squash, Gelber Englischer custard squash, The more you pick - the more will grow 4. Carrots - Try not to transplant, they like to grow where they are planted 5. Lettuce - slow bolt leaf lettuce, 6. Swiss Chard - Easy grow 7. Brassicas - Broccoli, Cauliflower, Kale, Cabbage, start under shade cloth 8. Basil - Prune to eat, and more will grow 9. Parsley - Hardy - will grow into cold weather 10. Red Malabar Spinach - vine - tropical plant BONUS: Sunflowers -- Florenza Sunflower 65 to 75 days to bloom

Watching your pup eat the garden harvest was so bittersweet for me. My senior dog passed in mid February and he was always there to grab a snack from my garden throughout the summer and fall. I still have two sweet pup babies with me but neither one of them are “into it”. Although the youngest (almost two year old Yorkie poodle) loves to bat a cherry tomato around like a ball , playing hide and seek in the grass with it before finally eating it. Love your channel and love your dog! Take care 😊

Fantastic video. This is my first year of successfully creating a diy backyard planter and seeing the plants not only grow from seed, but actually thrive and actually explode in beauty. To be fair, it was only nasturtium and cosmos flowers (the nasturtium being the edible of the two)... but it's been 3 years of trying based on different products and soil types to get anything going. I think I've got the basics down and can't wait to start growing carrots, lettuce, beans and so much more. We have the land and we have our hands... c'mon world, let's grow!

Off the subject, but I finally got my first load of free wood chips thanks to the local power company. I'm laying it thick in my forest.around my existing beds. I did not pull up any of the existing grass/weeds. I'm laying it about six inches thick. Anything that tries to grow through that will be easily taken care of. By this time next year it should be well settled. I'm hoping my forest will resemble yours in a couple of years.

🤣 this one (video) is so comforting! Zone 7a/b E TN. I planted cucumbers; white for Mom 82yo says they have "softer" skin that don't hurt her teeth and milder flavor that doesn't bother her stomach; and patty pan squash yesterday after pulling the very productive, as tall as me 5'4", Big Daddy pea plants and amending with 2" of compost. We still have 20 zucchini and summer squash plants from 20 seeds--seed started with your starter cells expecting for only a few to live as per past seed starting failures...Thanks again!

I love that Tuck gets his own snacks! 😄 I really enjoy your energy and enthusiasm and seeing your harvest especially because you can grow things I can’t…like cherries and blueberries. There is no way I could plant carrots or lettuce right now in my area at 100 degrees every day but swiss chard, kale, and basil do well with shade cloth. I have to germinate indoors and directly move to outside. Even my cukes, squash, and melons need protection from the sun. Micro dwarf tomatoes grow quickly and are prolific. Orange Hat is my favorite. I have to transplant my sunflowers because of my chickens who steal my seeds. Mine are currently 10’-12’ tall but started in tp rolls. Unfortunately they draw in insects that decimate their leaves and look diseased and ugly most of the season.

I live in rural Georgia, so it is really piping hot here, 103 yesterday, and I thought it was too late to plant many of the vegetables you mentioned. I grew Swiss chard for the first time last summer. I love it, especially dehydrsted. I add it to soups, spaghetti sauce, omelettes, nachos, on and on. I dry it, flake it and sprinkle it on everything. I get my greens that way all winterblong. I made English muffin pizza s the other day and sprinkled on the tops. It is invaluable to me now.

Great idea! I never thought to dehydrate chard :) There is one that I love though, it's called "Perpetual Spinach" which is actually a chard but it tastes just like spinach and doesn't bolt in the heat. Think I'll try dehydrating that!

So true about Swiss chard. I grow it in rows super dense, like Lettuce. It's way better when not grown to full size.. it's not kale. So many great varieties from Italy other than Rainbow..it's spinach all summer.
