I love your sense of humor it's amazing! I am also legally blind but I have OCA (Oculocutanious Albinism) and I HATE it when people come up to me and ask if there was a cure for me or asking like you shouldn't be legally blind you have glasses. I know that people try to help by asking/searching for a cure but it is really offensive and annoying sometimes

Yi Ling Wait what, “you shouldn’t be legally blind you have glasses” I have OCA type 1a and I have 20/200 vison corrected (with glasses)

MIn P That is not true. Legally blind people have a vision impairment so bad it can not be corrected with glasses, contacts or laser eye surgery. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 These individual's are usually not able to do things like driving. I don't know about riding a bike though. I did ride a bike when I was a kid. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 It was hard because from 40 or 50 feet away I could not see cars or other people on bikes or skateboards. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

My boyfriend and I are both visually impaired and grew up in the same suburb. I moved to Philadelphia for college and an area with better transit. When he wanted to start dating, I made him move to the city. We decided to always move to a larger city to have ease of access to transportation and local shopping.

I live in the suburbs and was always opposed to dating another legally blind person because I wanted a partner who could drive. I never really thought of the benefit of having someone who understood me. Although, I do feel like my sighted husband understands me more and more the longer we are together. Plus it’s nice to have someone who can drive and who can describe everything to me. But it seems like y’all are making it work and I think that’s great!

You guys seem like a sweet couple. My partner is sighted and I am legally blind. It can be frustrating some times. Also it probably doesn't help that I don't know associate/ hang out with other people who are blind. Man it is tough!

I love this!!! I think it’s amazing that you two found someone who completely understands what your going through and what you have gone through! My husband has “normal” vision and that has its pros and cons with it also, all relationships have that.

I just ran into your channel about five minutes ago. This video was great! you two are so humorous! My husband and I are legally blind and I totally agree with you guys, we could never live in the suburbs unless we have a chauffeur or something! We live in Northern California, so that’s definitely not going to happen. Lmao

I’m still single and live in a trailer park. (It’s more of a suburb) but if you’re legally blind you either have to really mange your money or be committed to walking. Nearest bus stop? 4 miles. Average cost of Lyft $25.00.(the cheaper alternative to Uber) Paratransit (handicap bus that does door to door service) for me because I don’t do a county transfer is $6.00 (each way) But for a round trip to the local beach is $28.00 (round trip). I have to schedule between 8:30 A.M and 4:30 PM it’s not bad but you need to plan.

Kingsize Customs I had to do that a lot too. I walked around 40 minutes to jobs, had to walk in snowstorms, blazing heat, beg my friends/family with cats to drive me (and pay em if I could). I feel your pain man.

Nicely done. I think this is very encouraging and educational delivered in a fun way. Keep up the good work. I put up an Albinism video that wasn't meant to be funny, but came across as such, which was a good thing.

Kristen, I love your hair color. If my workplace allowed it, my hair would be purple too.
@kristenpatterson84076 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry your workplace doesn’t allow it. I know how much dress codes can suck. Maybe invest in a purple wig so you can still enjoy the lilac tresses? I know that I would personally get a “natural” color wig if I worked somewhere that didn’t allow colors. Thank you nonetheless :)

Was wondering what ever happened to that Q&A you asked us about. Glad to see you two got around to filming it. Was worth the wait and you both are a great couple btw. Did you really lose your keys for that long?

Thank you! Appreciate the comment and yes it took us about two or three weeks to find the keys and it's because neither of us can see very well.

Personally, I prefer to date Disabled. If on the first date, I feel like I’m at a doctor appointment with you (a doctor that is not particularly understanding me, btw), or I feel all my spoons being taken away (google spoon theory), I’m going to be turned off. Now, if you’re a person who wants to get down to the business of dating, while also acknowledging who I am, AND you have spoons to give....I could be into that.

I have congenital nystagmus and I only really understood that I had it a couple of years ago. I’m 20 and throughout my life I’ve hardly had any comments or questions about it, it doesn’t really affect my vision too much (I can drive) but I still hate and get depressed that I have it and it sometimes gives me suicidal thoughts just wish I was born without it
@kristenpatterson84076 жыл бұрын
Wattsy I used to think the same way. I would get insanely dizzy from it and I couldn’t do so much, and a lot of people would think I was being lazy for not doing some things. But I’ve come to really love it about myself. James and i make jokes about being blind or our shaky eyes all the time! I know sometimes it’s difficult to come to terms with accepting the differences about ourselves, but I promise you, it’s what makes you unique. You’re worth living this life, and your contributions to this world are very appreciated. Those suicidal thoughts can be damned, we need you in this world. 💜
@wattsy63036 жыл бұрын
Mine is more cosmetic then visual which makes it more frustrating and harder to except, I see the world normally but others probably see me as different looking Really hope they can cure it one day, no one should have to have nystagmus or any other diseases or disabilities, life for some is definitely cruel and unfair Sorry for sounding all doom and gloom but that’s just what my mindset is at right now, I’m glad to see you guys happy and not letting it keep you down tell James I said hi I really admire him !
@kristenpatterson84076 жыл бұрын
Wattsy A lot of people probably don’t notice that your eyes shake. Unless I’m nervous or staring at someone from one of my uncomfortable angles, it doesn’t show. (I’ve been told). I promise you that it’s a unique thing about you. It may sound cheesy, but I think self love is the best thing you can have for yourself. Your nystagmus doesn’t make you strange and if people haven’t pointed it out, I’m certain anyone rarely notices :) As for curing disability, I get where you’re coming from, but disability is actually a huge driving force for a lot of us. It empowers a lot of us, it makes us want to work harder to see a more diverse society. We don’t want a picture perfect, everyone is cured of the bad stuff, culture. I know I wouldn’t want to be “cured” if there was a cure, because my disability has taught me to persevere and overcome a lot in my life. I feel stronger with my disability. I understand that not everyone feels that way. And I know you don’t. Perhaps by exploring more disabled content, you could see what I mean. We’re a whole community, and we’re all so proud and would love you to join us. James’ content is going to show a lot of that pride, too. And who knows, maybe him and his videos can help you find that self acceptance. I wish you the best love. I’ll tell James you said hi. :)
