I watched the video shot during the police visit (and noted how their cars had no difficulty traversing the street with the band there) I immediately sent a lengthy email. and Ive not heard back from the mayor of any of her minions. So has Royal street been reopened to foot traffic, a shopping area and the numerous bands being allowed to perform there?

Barnabus has got Kid Ory down for sure. Great performance. Also Mr. Eastwood is top notch. It still amazes me how tourists and others walking by act like they or actually have no clue WHO Tuba Skinny is while others stop to listen. It's just laughable. What do they expect out of New Orleans, the corporate radio classic play list? The Rap station? the Country playlist? This is just perfection here. Jesus help us all...certainly the city council, mayor, and other politically powerful for profit motivated rich don't seem to care what ambassadors they are to other countries, and the impression they have made around the world and the country, about how great New Orleans is supposed to be. it does not get nay better than this. Open up Royal Street, it's time, it's musical heritage and culture to return for the tourists and little kids to see and hear. Hands on music education. Something the USA needs to value more than all the other superficial commercialism junk and violence they are expose to 24/7.

I honestly think that most of the folks standing around listening are enjoying the music but think that Tuba Skinny is just some folks that come together a "jam" together for a bit for fun and a little extra money and they have no ear for really, really, good tight music and these folks are not a weekend band, but are all professionals. Oh and that they are playing some old second hand super inexpensive insturments.

My personal opinion is that the biggest difference between Tuba Skinny is the amount of ensemble playing they do. Most bands seem to follow "everyone gets a long solo every song" as written in stone. Tuba Skinny is pleasantly more flexible. Tuba Skinny's other great strength is that they have no weak link.

Shaye even times her absences to the second. She dealt with the cash, strolled casually back and was playing again exactly when she was supposed to be.
