I made it as well, tasted really good. But the burger had no structural integrity at all. Any tips for that?
@borsikaarday5634 жыл бұрын
@@StefanvanderFange I think baking them longer than 25 minutes can really help with additional broiling at the end (couple mins, keep checking). Also make sure to drain your beans very thoroughly. I would rinse them first, then drain and maybe dab with a paper towel. Same with the mushrooms, if you wash them, you can dry them with a paper towel. But if you still find that the patties don't hold together you can add in some breadcrumbs and bake them longer. I guess the key is to get rid of as much moisture as possible for them to hold together. I hope I could help.

I made this burger today with a few substitutes (didn't have rye bread, so just added sourdough). Baked in an airfryer and topped with yogurt, avocado, parsley, and mango chutney. Hoooooly smokes was it delicious! The mango chutney truly made it perfect. I couldn't stop myself at just one!

Definitely going to try this recipe and check out his book. My go to is the black bean burger from Serious Eats, but the addition of mushrooms to the pattie sounds delicious. I’m not a vegetarian, but over the years I’ve reduced the amount of animal protein I consume to twice a month now. It’s much easier now that we have so many options and ways to make delicious plant based meals at home. With our knowledge on the horrible industrial farming methods and the havoc it places on our environment one can’t turn a blind eye and think there’s nothing we can do about it. It all about making smarter choices and doing what’s best for our world. Thank you Jamie!

Down to twice a month, you're basically a vegetarian! I'd recommend reducing other animal products, like milk and cheese too. It's great for your health, ends animal suffering and slows down global warming! :D
@Proteus_Ridley3 жыл бұрын
@@hannahg8439 I don't really care about animal suffering but there is a risk of cutting animal products out Such as lack of vitamin D, calcium and more importantly, vitamin B12 B12 is a difficult vitamin to get from plant sources, as well as iron. Iron is more well-absorbed from animal products than plant-based iron version (spinach), so you basically need B12/iron supplements to reduce anaemia risk I also won't believe it'll reduce global warming to a significant level Farmers will still graze animals, kill them for meats, and many developing countries love their meats. Any meat not eaten/sold would count as food waste (a source of global warming gasses too) The idea of a majority of humans adopting a vegetarian or less animal product diet, is impossible for now Esp. given milk and eggs are in a lot of products and cheese is popular with pizzas Overall anyone can have good health with a balanced diet, making sure they get all vitamins/minerals, exercising regularly long-term, and portion size control

I've been reading about gut health recently and have really cut down on added sugars, meat and dairy. I'm not going to be giving them up, but I do believe and see the importance of consuming these foods in smaller quantities, which is also in line with the cuisines of cities largely populated by centenarians. I was looking for a veggie burger the other day and was thinking of making them falafel inspired but think this combo of mushrooms and black beans is really going to up the moisture, umami and protein content. I'll definitely give this recipe a go but might add additional spices, some tomato paste, or soy sauce for that added flavour & umami.
