So Stephen just a quick update! The gift Jamie Oliver gave you is known as the Centellino wine Aerator. Clearly Jamie Oliver has no idea how it works because as you pointed out the tear drop area is meant to be filled first to actually aerate the wine and then you tilt the bottle to pour out of that tear drop area into your wine glass. So Jamie Oliver skipped the whole aerating process when he poured that glass lol.

That's not how the Centellino works at all. Aeration works when poured into the teardrop part. Then, you turn and empty a perfect glass of aerated wine into a wine glass.
