I just want to say I LOVE your videos. My daughter’s dream June 2023 wedding got moved to a *much* much simpler Dec. 2022 wedding that I planned in 4 weeks. I binged watched your videos for advice. Thank you for all of the highly relevant information and keeping each video moving quickly without nonsense chit chat 😊. I wish I had reason to keep watching as it is so entertaining and filled with such good information! Blessings to you! ❤

Oh no! I agree, getting started on planning your happy day can be VERY daunting. I hope you’re able to lean on close friends for support, and to help break down some of those tasks over a few hrs. each week. Sending positive vibes your way, bride. You got this!

Idk if this helps at all but one thing that's helped me is destigmatizing what it means to plan a wedding. At the end of the day, it's just a fancy party. You don't need 20 steps 15 vendors 200 save the dates a hotel blocked out for out of state guests etc. to have a party. There are people whose only "wedding" they do is to go to the local bar and rent out party space (course if you're here you may not want that lol) My point is, the wedding industry purposely makes it feel overwhelming so they can charge you more or sell you things on how to plan a wedding. Just plan the party you want to see and don't worry about what should or shouldn't be done. If people have a problem with that screw them and don't invite them Also it's ok to take some time to process this. My wedding isn't until 2024, over a year away. We did this to take time to also just be engaged but also to get the venue we wanted. We have been dating for over 5 years at this point so waiting a couple more isn't going to kill us lol

Since finding your page in October I have felt so much more secure in planning my small wedding reception. We're working with a small budget because we're doing a destination elopement and having a "happily ever after-party" later this year. Well, I've learned that a 40 person reception is still very much a wedding in the eyes of many vendors so the costs are a lot higher than I had anticipated. Your videos are so bingeable that I feel like an expert at this point, at least for what we're trying to accomplish. Thank you so much for all of your transparent and fun to watch content! If I were religious I'd say you're god-sent. You're most definitely universe-sent!

I'm nowhere close to getting married but you made me feel better to know they're actually is an order for doing things. I have ADD and will also be an incredibly budget bride so knowing where to start how to start was going to intimidate me. I've never understood how to set a budget when if I think about what I would be able to put together and save for a wedding would be nowhere close to what most people spend. I can't fathom spending $10,000. I guess if I had a fiance we would then be able to figure out the saving and putting aside expenses for the wedding together. At my age I'll just be glad to have somebody to say "I do" at our church, have a few flowers a little bit of cake and that's it. My friends and family wouldn't be looking for much more. When it comes to food at a wedding the cake is the most important part for me. I bake and decorate cakes for fun and all my friends know that that would be the only thing I cared about at a reception. 🎉 I don't know why I came across your videos but I've enjoyed listening to them a while I am unpacking into my house. Thank you for wanting to help people make it through a stressful but joyful time of their life without going crazy and over budget!

I am a few months in and find these rules and myths super solid, especially "Don't assume. Ask questions." YEP. You assume your in-laws have high expectations for you to create a high-dollar event? Ask! You assume you need to have a bunch of offerings, like a photo booth, activities for guests, and even kids stuff? Definitely ask! You assume you know all of your partner's expectations? Ask away!! You might be surprised that what you are assuming is not true. Also, if someone gives you an answer you don't agree with, be gracious and determine how important it is to you. If your fiance disagrees with something, definitely listen and seek to compromise. But you don't have to compromise to meet the expectations of all your other guests! That is a lot of pressure, let me tell ya.

What's the difference between a wedding shower and a bachelor/ette party?? And is both of these events necessary or not? Also is just a nice dinner out with wedding party instead of a big/medium sort of party acceptable for the bachlor/ette party??
@FurikoMaru Жыл бұрын
If booking the venue had been completely my decision instead of my in-laws', I would probably feel more called-out about the no budget thing. _They're_ the ones who looked at the food package we went with and said 'unacceptable' and immediately upgraded to the platinum package with the jumbo shrimp display at cocktail hour and the filet mignon. And of course _now_ my MIL doesn't want me to be 'frivolous' and spend too much of my own money on unimportant things like a photographer or my dress or the only guest book option I've ever seen in my life that I would actually appreciate as a keepsake and go back to every year on my anniversary (After the Tone, natch). "We're a frugal family" sure, Mrs G. That's why you 'upgraded' to the meals that are more expensive to make and taste actively worse when you cook them in bulk. Also! One thing I would add to this is that you don't know how much some stuff means to _you_ until you have conversations about it. I did not realize that I care a _lot_ about the dress until my fiance was like "We can make it the lowest budget priority, right?" and I burst into tears. I was more shocked at that than he was, I promise you; I am not big on expensive one-time-use items normally. I guess I just internalized it as 'the one time it's okay to let go and splurge' and I never examined that thought.

I been watching your videos for a while now. I ended up having precognition dreams early last couple days of August 2022 all the way through Oct 18th of last year about my Boyfriend going to propose on his birthday Jan 20th. We were supposed to go to the mountains, but plans have gotten thrown away off.. anyhow I found out my dreams were correct... reason being, his Dad got real bad sick and ended up passing away on Dec 7 2022 😢 we had a talk Dec 5th and he told me about his plans, I had been logging the dreams in a notebook so I pulled out my notebook and showed him I already knew, he was shocked in a way, he has not read any of my logs yet we are waiting until after his birthday when he proposes. we were going to go ahead and he was going to propose since we knew his Dad was dieing right in front of of so his Dad could see his son propose, but unfortunately he passed before he was able to. Your videos have been super super helpful though! I have gotten many ideas on how to plan our wedding because of your videos. Keep up the awesome work Jamie!
