Stuart Zender is an amazing bassist, no doubt! But he was in the company of some of the most amazing musicians living at the time who were all in their twenties. Please give love to the unbelieveable Toby Smith(R.I.P.) on keyboards, lyrical genius Jay Kay, the super funky Derrick McKenzie on drums and that killer horn section. Jamiroquai was one of the best live groups in the world performing in the 90's!

Most great bassplayers start playing good, mature basslines in their late twenties, at best. Zender started playing bass at 16 when he worked as a circus artist(!), played in a punkband(!) for 2 yrs, joined Jamiroquai and from the start played genious, funky basslines on a level far above most players before and after him. A true bass prodigy.

Seriously, Mike Smith, the saxophonist, was/is obviously influenced by John Coltrane. Gotta love how the ending solo sounds like a straight tribute to the legend. Anyway, this has got to be one of Jamiroquai's best performances ever. I am watching this again after years, and I'm immediately pulled back into their groove.

Why can't Jay Kay go back to writing jams like this. This is why I listen to Jamiroquai to this day. Music of my soul
@applecharlotte1981
@applecharlotte1981 Жыл бұрын
Because the whole band line up has completely changed. Stuart Zender co-wrote many of the tracks on the first 4 albums as did Toby smith (who sadly passed away). They did away with the horn section, Sola the percussionist and Wallace the Didge player. I think Derrick is still on drums. This is when Jamiroquai were at their best imo.
