Holy shit Billy. Plucking Beaumont Rag with Ol Sam. Dream come true buddy. Thanks for living the dream for all of us!
@K1313993 жыл бұрын
Few living folks are as legendary as Sam and it's about as simple as that. All those shows with Mark, Bela, Tony, Jerry, and all the other monsters who sat in are truly time-capsule performances, all of them.

It blows my mind how much Sam still moves his right hand when he's soloing. It looks like he's still strumming rhythm
@jamietodd25603 жыл бұрын
He said he once closed it in a car door and had to change the way he picked. But it gives his solos so much pulse and punch.

The thing I like about bluegrass is it's easy and sounds great.
@alan4sure3 жыл бұрын
It's not that easy to play though. The picking tempo is faster than most genres. Especially rock, folk and country. Melodies and chord progressions are simple though, typically.
@gam14713 жыл бұрын
@@alan4sure Agreed. I'd add that it's what a good player does with those melodies in the way of variations and improvisations that makes it interesting. Different players will for example play Beaumont Rag differently, but the tune's still in there. Also, the rhythm and back-up playing has to be correctly in style. I've sat in jam sessions where someone who hasn't studied the style come in and bashes away thinking they can play bluegrass, when what they're doing is wrong. There's also the singing and vocal harmonies in bluegrass - to me, the most important and emotional aspect of the music. The best singers are incredible!

AHHH I FIGURED IT OUT!!!! The reason my picking sucks on guitar, don't use black fingernail polish. Shoot, would it be bad if I snooped through my daughters stuff to find some? Hrmm, I think I'm too close to boomer to pull it off, nonetheless, 2 of my favorites, loved it!!!!

Hello Sam, I have just taken out an Amazon PRIME membership, mainly to watch your elusive 'The Sam Bush Story' documentary. Turns out that this movie is not supported by the PRIME membership and I am also informed that I am not permitted to watch the movie here in Australia as my VISA card is not linked to an US address. Don't know why you are protecting this film so much or is it just a home movie?
