I’m a Celtics fan from the 80’s; James worthy was one of the best all around players of his era. I have so much respect for that man and his talent. He got anywhere near the basket and you might as well have gave the Lakers 2 points. He wasn’t afraid to get into the dirty areas of the defensive game as well. He made the Lakers so much better a basketball team.

Worthy is right on this one. Draymond would get the shit knocked out of him a few times. Refs protect the Warriors and let him get away with murder. He'd get hammered in eras prior to 2005.

Draymond would get destroyed by Rodman. Rodman gave Karl Malone and SHAQ Problems both men are bigger and Stronger than Draymond. Rodman made the Hall of Fame because of his Defense and Rebounding. Led the League in Rebounding for about 7 years straight. We are talking about Averages of 16, 17, 18 or More. More Stronger and Athletic than Draymond not even close. Rodman also was a Great Defender in the Low Post

I'm not really understanding this "destroyed" thing with Rodman vs Draymond hypothetically. Draymond is not really a high volume scorer that needs to be limited. Hes a jack of all trades type player. Not a scorer that opposing teams scheme for. The best Rodman would do is his usual baiting and flopping

@@danotbob Just listen to what Worthy is saying and you'd understand that dribbling and running an offense has nothing to do with what this conversation is even about. Rodman would literally destroy him. I love that Worthy throws in Oakley and Mason into the conversation. They would have destroyed Draymond as well. If Lebron's walkover made Draymond lose his mind to cost the Warriors a championship, Mason and Oakley's antics would have caused Draymond to just stay home and miss some games after a night with those 2.

The 80s and up through the 90s were the toughest years physically in NBA history. Today's players are supremely skilled and athletic, but they have not been tested with the physicality from that he previous era. Many today do well because the league is physically soft. That's undeniable. Palming and carrying the ball is also allowed and would be severely restricted especially in the 80s. Those two facts alone would negate many of today's great players.

Not only was Dennis Rodman tough and strong, he had an uncanny basketball IQ. He could guard about four positions, and knew just where the ball would carom on a rebound. Rodman had an unusual mental makeup, especially since he grew up in foster care, and worked as a janitor after high school. Dennis' garish flamboyance obscured a hard worker and a highly unusual mind. Listen to Big Game James.

Who in the hell would want to see Rodman vs Draymond?!?!? Lol. Two players with no game going at it? NBA fans come up with these wack sceneries and match ups all the time. I don't get it. Why would they even guard each other? No coach is going to put their top defender on a guy who isn't even a scoring threat. These cartoon scenerios where players are matched up in different eras is so corny. You can't compete with nostalgia because fans will embellish players from the past. "Rodman could get 25-30 rebounds"?? Be serious. Rodman could board, yes but not at 25-30 per game level. His best season was 19 rpg. Rodman really overachieved for his size because he had what every good rebounder has to have - a desire to get the ball. Too many guys just stand around and wait for the ball to come to them, especially now a days. Good rebounders dont wait, they go and get it. Don't go too Worm crazy. He benefited greatly from the decline of solid fundamental rebounding that started in that era and is really bad now. He got alot of bounds because the guys he was playing against were slack at boxing out and would stand waiting for the ball only to Dennis swoop in and grab it. Needless to say, Rodman would have not gotten as many if he had to try to take them away from Gus Johnson, Dave Cowens or Willis Reed, Maurice Lucas, et. al.

In the 1970s, there were 11 games where a player scored 30+ rebounds. It happened only 4 times in the 1980s. It happened 10 times in the 1990s. Rodman accounts for FIVE of those; the others were Mutombo, Barkley, Seikaly, and Willis (twice). Then it didn't happened at all in the aughts, and only 3 times in the 2010s. Hard to generalize from those statistics, other than to say that Rodman was a monster.
@votingcitizen
@votingcitizen 2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-oe5kx Other to say that back in the day, it was alot harder to get rebounds because most all the forwards and centers were really going after rebounds and boxing out. I stand by my point that Rodman would not have gotten as many rebounds if he played against more serious rebounders like Paul Silas, Maurice Lucas, Gus Johnson, Elvin Hayes, et. al. Also, again cutting off history at 1970 or 1980 does not make Rodman or anyone else a "monster" or all time anything. Wilt AVERAGED 23 rebounds per game over his entire career. His first two seasons he average over 27 rebounds per game. AVERAGED, so he had many games over 30.

For the record, today's Dubs would wipe the floor with any team from "back in the day." Hear me out before you blow a gasket. Haha. Steph and their manner of play is a force multiplier that gets defenders out of position. Trying to play rough against that style of play results in easily seen fouls, plus the Dubs would have a lot of open threes, layups and dunks like they do now. It's tough to play physical when the guy they are trying to cover just isn't there. The physical crap - which also made the game less interesting to watch - is designed for big man post up offenses, where the team is standing around more. The Dubs don't have time for that - they are off to the races even when they are playing a half court game.
