I'm not a Florida resident but I have had occasion to do some late night driving in south Florida along A1A (Stuart area). Playing a Jan Hammer CD during such a drive, with music like this, gives a new dimension to the music and the show.

No, this is either Lapis Blue Metallic (if the car is a ‘79-‘84) or Nautical Blue Metallic (if the car is an ‘85). Midnight Blue is much darker than this and actually looks black at night. I know this because I own two W126s, both in Midnight Blue.

I am pretty convinced (looking at the dark clouds of exhaust coming from the 126 in the car chase when it accelarates) that this a Turbodiesel. Namely a 300 or 350 SD. Which again would mean that the bodywork has been added "after Sales" and it is not a genuine AMG Kit. The tires indeed look like BBS Mahle

Ein nicht unberechtigter Einwand, jedoch ist es meines Erachtens nur sehr schwer eindeutig zu klassifizieren, denn alle Szenen mit diesem Mercedes wurden bei Nacht aufgenommen. Der Mercedes-Benz W126 ist in den 80ern in verschiedenen Farbausführungen erschienen, und da bei Miami Vice nur selten gespart wurde, wurde ich mal behaupten dies ist keine Serienlackierung, demnach kein Standard Dunkelblau oder Schwarz. Die exklusiveren Ausstattungsoptionen des SE und SEL wurden in den Jahren 1984-1991 mit einem speziellen 199 Blauschwarz Metallic Farbe (Black Pearl) lackiert, worauf auch die BBS Felgen hindeuten, was ich in diesem Fall für das Wahrscheinlichste halte. Mehr Informationen zu den Farben des W126: www.meinbenz.de/farben/126/Farbcodes126.htm. Des Weiteren wird diese offiziell unveröffentlichte instrumentale Einlage von Jan Hammer seit mehreren Jahren als „Black Mercedes“ geteilt und um mich dem zu fügen, wo zugleich schwarz an sich nicht ganz verkehrt ist, bin ich schlussendlich bei demselben Namen geblieben.
