@@jane-mulcahy Exactly! They use the formula of Accented Line > Music Comes in for A Few Bars > Singing Starts! It's basically what movies and tv do when they're writing parodies of musicals except this takes itself seriously! I'm kind of here for it!

My sister went through a bit of a christmas movie phase last year, and at some point she came to the realisation that the christmas movie formula is the same for every one. One of the "rules" she came up with was that there was always an actor/actress that you recognize from somewhere but can never tell where. 5 minutes later, the actress who played Sean's Mum was on screen.

"Based on a true story" is different from "inspired by a true story". Schindler's List is based on a true story. The pursuit of happiness is inspired by a true story. Titanic is based on true events. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is inspired by true events. If the writers at Lifetime actually took a basic writing class ☕ they would have known to use either based or inspired by true events.

@jane-mulcahy2 жыл бұрын
It definitely is him singing in the movie, and tbh although he certainly does fine, I wouldn't say he really sounds like a 'singer.' Charlotte Arnold when she was 10 was in a bad lifetime movie about children of divorced parents, the mom was an unemployed artist who bought an out-of-service decommissioned lighthouse to remodel it and live in, but the dad was always possessing his kids like they were objects. Munro Chambers at age 10 was in a horror movie with one of his biological brothers who was like the same height and same hair cut so they shared the same role, it had a lot of jump scares and random scenes on bridges over ponds where Munro was just looking at his reflection in the water, a lot. Shane Kippel was in a movie about the Youth Incarceration/Juvenile Prison industry called The Dogpound, probably around season 3 or 4 of Degrassi. He was shown naked twice. He was shown as an unprotected noob with no friends and he was constantly assaulted and harassed by both inmates and guards, he was so vulnerable.

@washedblue Жыл бұрын
That's so bizarre. I wonder if they used twins to get around child labor laws or had a stage parent, but, like... Munro's brother isn't an actor and acting isn't genetically linked. Like, twins have different personalities and skills so now I kinda wanna watch it just to see if the acting seemed consistent lol

I absolutely cannot with this choreography 22:30 21:55 also this part made me realize I have 100% heard this song before and I don't know where or why I think the western version of an item song is probably the song that always plays in the credits that is clearly manufactured to be a single. Sometimes it's a pop version of one of the songs in the movie (and this version absolutely doesn't fit the tone of the movie and is really out of place) but sometimes it's just a completely random song that may or may not be tangentially related to the movie.
